Constitution & hit point bonus

Magic Rub

First Post
Ridiculously easy/stupid basic question time.

1. When your Constitution changes for the better, are the benefits to your hit points immediately applied, or do the hit point benefits only come into effect when you level?
2. If it is a bonus gain at the time you level (or any time for that matter), is it retroactive, or does it only apply to that levels hit points?
3. Regarding the retroactivity, where do I find this little tid bit of info? The Barbarian Con bonus example?

Example;
7th lvl Dwarf fighter
Con: 21 (+5)
Hit points [maxed for this example]: (7d10 = 70) + (5 x 7 = 35) = 105 Total

Levels up to 8th, gains a Stat point & puts it in to Con: 22 (+6)

Will his hit points (assuming max rolls) now be;

1. (8d10 = 80) + ((5 x 7 = 35) + (6 x 1)) = 121 Total

....or

2. (8d10 = 80) + (6 x 8 = 48) = 128 Total (taking into account the retroactive benefit)

Thanks

Simply count the hitpoints your chars lose as wounds and calculate the hitpoint maximum according to the temporary Constitution.
