Crunch rules!!!!!!

The crunch is good. It is necessary to set limits. Once the limits are set, we know what the boundaries are. At heart, gamers are primarily Lawful -- we don't want to have something spinning wildly out of control, with no order, no limits, and no base from which to start. Rules can be changed, but only if you have thought through what those changes will do, what ripples they will cause.

But in the end, rules serve the setting (and the fun of the game), rather than the other way around.
