D&D 5E D&D and who it's aimed at

Judging just by this post, maybe 5e is just not the game for you? There's nothing at all wrong with playing something else...

Yeah. I'm predominantly playing Pathfinder 2e, Traveller, Warhammer Fantasy RPG, and Forbidden Lands these days.
WotC's 5e isn't for me. I don't find much of their content compelling or even (in recent cases) written to a bare minimum professional quality.

I don't think that D&D is being Disneyfied, it's being Marvelized: generally appealing PG-13 material for all ages.

I missed this apt comparison. Of course, Marvel Studios is a subsidiary of Disney, but...

I don't see a Disneyfication of anything. Are they targeting different products at different audiences? Of course. Why wouldn't they? But with the most recent announcements we're getting SpellJammer and Dragonlance this year. SpellJammer doesn't seem targeted at any specific age group, Dragonlance is more for the older crowd if anything.

Since Disney owns 1/3 of my childhood I would be AOKAY with star wars and mcu like D&D products... and I am in my 40s....

if we could Nintendify it I would like Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania, and Bionic COmmando more...

I have worked in corporate sales for over a decade.

You aim for everyone and focus on those you see or can be made into frequent buyers. Often that isn't the people who have been at it the longest as they are usually set in their ways, only want things they are used to, and are resistant to new renecue streams.

All joking aside, yeah, I hear you. If anything, I'm saying they are styles along a spectrum.
