Yeah, I can't believe that they acknowledged this.

I guess they figure the whole occult scare has run its course, and now they want to see if alot of negative publicity is in fact good for jump starting sales.

Next up, Return to the Occult Scare: Porn Edition.

Any press is good press I suppose.

But honestly it falls more in line with some of the recent attempts by WotC to appeal to their audience with stuff with Penny Arcade, Robot Chicken, and now this. Grand marketing tradition of older people telling a younger target audience what's cool and hip and embracing things they feel appeal to them to market the product, in this case 4e.

Good for WotC! Zak Smith is doing some of the smartest, most entertaining game writing out there right now. As an added bonus, his posts often contain a lot of succinct and savvy writing about art/lit. in general.

He's like one of the smartest, most pedantic ENWorld posters --except with all the annoying pedantry transubstantiated into awesome! Oh, and he is/games with porn stars.

I thought the interview was decent, and it gave one DM's experience with new players and how he engages them.

The adult movie actor sub-theme seemed to be quite secondary.

Still, I wonder how many parents will lash out at WoTC for posting the interview in the first place.

It seems to me, with the podcasts very clearly not being censored for the younger audience, that WotC have successfully managed to unshackle themselves from any over-reaching influence from the "target audience" body of Hasbro. I'm absolutely delighted by this, and support them fully.
