Every agent has an ID badge, a service pistol and holster, the Manual of Instruction and the Manual of Rules of Regulations. The standard sidearm for most agents is the .38 Special Colt Official Police revolver. Agents who expect to encounter violent criminals can select the .357 Magnum Smith & Wesson revolver. The FBI arsenal includes a small number of .38 Colt Super Automatics for agents who dislike revolvers.
