Welcome curious adventurer! Dark Days in Sion play-by-post is a Dungeons and Dragons, 3.5e game incorporating house rules, set in my homebrew world of Sion.

Currently the campaign is set on the large continent of Akhenaten. The PC's are traveling through a border region between the Kingdom of Vulkh (ruled by an evil race of avian humanoids), the Kindgom of Maharatha and the Kingdom of Barosaa.

This campaign has already been in play on another forum for over a year, but I decided to move the game here because it appears to be more stable and popular. Several players have come and gone, but the story continues!

I organize the game kind of like a play, dividing the posts into Parts, Acts and Scenes to make it easier to keep track of it in the long term. Typically, one scene lasts for 10-12 pages of posts. After 1-5 Scenes I will start a new Act, and after 3-5 acts we move on to the next Part. We will be starting Part 2: Act 1, Scene 2 shortly here on Enworld. (Here is the link: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showth...in-Sion-play-by-post-Part-2-Act-1-Scene-2)For those who are interested, I can provide links to the former game threads if you want to get caught up on the campaign thus far. It makes for a very good read!

We use myth-weavers.com for character sheets, and rolz.org for dice-rolling.

I have created an OOC page here on ENworld where you can see the current game status, list of players, and more information about how the game is played. Here is the link: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?466446-Dark-Days-in-Sion-Start-Here!

A little about myself

I have been gaming for over twenty years and DM'ing for about half that time. I started with AD&D at age 11 and eventually made the switch to third edition in my 20's. I had no interest in 4e, and honestly I really don't plan on learning any other editions at this point. I looked at Pathfinder for a minute, but I don't like Golarion as a setting and many of changes they made to the base D&D material seem just silly and unnecessary. I'm told at least one of my house rules apparently copied pathfinder, so I am open minded about rules that make sense. Switching to online gaming occurred out out necessity because I moved a lot and that was the only way to find players on a regular basis.

About the setting

Sion is a dangerous world with lots of intrigue and adventure to enjoy. I have created several unique races, monsters and classes (besides the usual standards) to make things more interesting. It is a world with lots of history involving a variety of realms. I'm also proud to say I encourage players to come to me with world-building ideas to help me fully flesh it out.

World data and house rules are posted up on Obsidian Portal. Please take a look at what the world of Sion has to offer and how the house rules make 3.5e more versatile and exciting. https://sion.obsidianportal.com/wikis/main-page

Great! First thing to do is send me a private message. Don't worry if you aren't already an expert at D&D 3.5e or have a ton of prior online roleplaying experience. Myself and the other players are happy to help.

What you should expect?

Expect to have fun! Play by Post games are a great way to combine a love for writing with a penchant for roleplaying. When several people get their heads together they can weave a very grand story indeed! Also, this sort of game isn't as taxing on your free time as a live-action game is because everyones schedule may differ, yet the game will go on regardless! That's the beauty of play-by-post (pbp)

Another great thing about pbp is how all the posts are stored here on the forum for others to follow like an ongoing novel. In that sense, pbp is more fulfilling and really gives you a sense of pride and accomplishment.

What I expect

I expect players to treat each other with courtesy and respect. I expect meaningful contributions to the game on a reasonably frequent basis. (On average, a new post within 48 hours of your last post shouldn't be too much to ask.) My posts may not be as frequent as those of the players, but that's because I have a much harder job behind the scenes as the DM. I also expect my players to pay attention and communicate any questions/concerns with me before they make a bad post. Beyond that, I am pretty easy going.
