For every action, there are consequences.

For some, those consequences are eternal.

Designed for use with the Karma Roleplaying System, Death’s Shadow: The Book of Vampires provides storytellers and players with a unique resource to explore the deadly world of the living dead. Inspired by myths, folklore, and legends from around the world, Death’s Shadow provides plenty of pre-generated material to use immediate in a campaign or to serve as inspiration for designing one’s own vampires.

Death’s Shadow offers an overview of the place of vampires in the multiverse, and the surprising niche they fill in maintaining the balance. The book expands upon the base vampire presented in the Karmic Monsters supplement and presents it as a playable template that can be used by your PCs. As players advance in their characters, they gain access to new vampiric powers. Players can select from the base vampire powers or the strain specific powers of seven lore-inspired vampire types.

Bhuta: the plaguebringers spread pestilence and madness wherever they go, leaving death and chaos in their wake.

Civatateo: descendents of the murderer of an ancient blood god, the Civatateos wield their vampiric blood as a weapon against the followers of the gods in their eternal effort to destroy the gods.

Moroi: The mysterious Moroii are capable of tapping into the Dreamscape; feeding not only on the blood but also the dreams of their victims.

Mullo: Like the demonic succubi they are oftem mistaken for, Mullos feed on both the blood and sexual energies of their victims.

Nosferatu: The hideously deformed Nosferatu nonetheless possess both the intellect and raw strength to impose their will on other vampires.

Upyr: As if command over illusions and shadows were not enough, the Upyri possess a limited resistance to sunlight that has led to the demise of more than one under informed vampire slayer.

Vrykolaka: The feral and deadly Vrykolakas prowl the dark edges of civilization, engaged in their great hunt.

But Death’s Shadow isn’t just about the vampires themselves. It also touches on those that fight them. Players can take on the roles of Dwarven Nightstalkers, Paladins, Vampire Hunters, or even Werewolves to combat the undead using a host of new powers and equipment.
