Digital Battlemat

Hi there!
I'm ready to begin a new campaign and, as I just bought a netbook, I was looking for a simple program to keep trace of PC and enemies' position on a grid. Do you know any program (strictly freeware!) that would do?
By the way, if you know any other softare that could help a DM, I'm open for suggestions.

Well I am planning on using Maptools in the near future. I currently playing around with the map creation functions. They seem pretty comprehensive so far.

The whole rptools suite is pretty good.

I'm partial to initiativetool, which speeds up the most time consuming part of combat (IMO).

I will admit I did not have a long hard look at every option but what I did look that was free was Java. I had a look at OpenRPG and did not particularly like it.
Then again, even though I am a vb.net developer myself I have no strong theological objection to Java.
