Displaced consists of two books in the one package. Book #1: Lost in Time and Space looks at how people of the past thought ... quite differently from how we moderns think regardless of the impression you might get from other RPGs, Books or Movies!
It also looks at how this is likely to impact on the situation that your players will face in a Displaced campaign ... and looks at the ins and outs of history ... how you can keep your favourite historical background *almost* complete and yet change it in ways that are historically realistic and will keep even the best informed players hopping and wondering "what on earth is going on here" ...
Based on the simple fact that the "history" we take for granted is merely a consensual construct rather than an absolute reality.
Book #2: Survival and Rebirth looks at the nuts and bolts issues of running such a campaign. How much food will the displaced need? How much can they produce? What resources are available or can be mined or recovered? How long will it take? What products can they make with what they have on hand ... weapons, vehicles, communications ... that will set them apart from the surrounding population(s) and enhance their prospects for survival? How long will it take to construct them, what tools will be required, and so on.
Extensive equipment lists with construction requirements and times are provided to go with this section.
There is an extensive Campaign section with a variety of specific background information on which you can readily model a robust campaign background ... including some specific campaign additions and settings.
Finally, there are extensive appendices giving weapon and vehicle data for Action! System, EABA, Impresa Express, d20 Modern and Spycraft for all the equipment detailed in the books.
