Doesn't Savage Species have the Awaken Construct spell?


Why would Savage Species make a whole new spell for something that pretty much did the same thing? Okay, sure, it's a different type of spell in terms of what you can give sentience. Also the 3.0 version in Savage Species is different from that seen in 3.5 material (or at least better defined). Regardless, it just feels like Minor Servitor is a better spell in terms of giving a humanoid "life" when looking at the costs and benefits. And given you can't even give intelligence to a pencil with Awaken Construct...*shrug*

I'm certain there are more than a few Awakened pencils who would love to debate this with you. 18 on a 3d6 Intelligence roll is a lot smarter than a good majority of the population. Doesn't make your thought right or wrong, but it certainly makes it complicated. ;)
