Anyone Proficient in Sleight of Hand may make one attempt to pocket something vs the magistrate's Passive Perception. Then they can attempt once more as a contest vs the magistrate if they wish.
BUT since Ssz'irac has Expertise in Sleight of Hand he may attempt as many contested checks as he wishes. It is all in how lucky you are feeling.
Also the wizard's case is in the chest as he never got it out of Ssz'irac's hand. So the guards confiscated it thinking it was yours.[/sblock]
