Neurotic

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
OOC: @Neurotic Just curious why you had advantage? There's no flanking. You hit regardless.
OOC:
Auto-pilot. In all editions since AD&D there was flanking. And it's optional here. Finally, real life experience (I'm martial artist) says that even two opponents right in front of you are harder to defend from and if they are flanking (as dnd term), you're as good as beaten. It's worse with weapons because in close combat you can (if you're lucky or skilled) use one against the other.

The young gnoll jumped up and down excited to have caught someone in its net. It turn while pointing at Templeton to get the attention of its companions. It's jaw dropped in utter amazement at what it saw.

First one of his fellows feel back dead before hitting the ground, a slim dagger hilt protruding out of his face, the blade likely deep into his brain tissue. The half-elf male he was fighting took the good fortune bestowed by the attack to run over and help the dwarf warrior take down another of his pack.

Then... then the dwarf ran up and helped the blue troglodyte bleed a third warrior. And although he withstood their onslaught of attacks an instant later he too feel victim to this odd group of humaniods. Some sort of black magic struck him like an arrow, two arrows of light. And wait.. was that another one headed at him??

Templeton

Templeton's first instinct was to try to squirm free and run away! But hearing her Ladyship's prodding and seeing the Gnoll before him almost struck down he decided to attack. Surely just one more poke should do the trick? However his rapier was still fouled by the netting and he comicly tried to poke through missing the chest of the gnoll by a good 8 inches.

Emmyr stepped up to the glowing gnoll and gave the beast a grin. “Sparkle sparkle!” he said, slashing at the monster with both his swords. He sliced the gnoll into several tiny pieces.

However his rapier was still fouled by the netting and he comicly tried to poke through missing the chest of the gnoll by a good 8 inches.
Then Templeton's eyes widened as, behind the gnoll, incredibly, he saw a thick column rise up from the magical mire -- like a giant headless, eyeless, twisting snake of dripping mud and water. It rose up above the beast... and then came smashing down...

Eldritch blast vs Q13:
Mud in your eyes: 1D20+5 = [1]+5 = 6; 1D10 = [4] = 4

Splattering into the ground as the nimble hyena-man looked over its shoulder just in time to throw itself to the side!

By the cart's corner Rana swore, her right hand, sleeve pulled back, having just mimed out the mud’s exact motion (up, up, straight up! And then crashing down). “That beast has the luck of a Thousand-Imp!”

Just then movement at the head of their cart caught her attention though and she spied fur, the arc of a net, legs through the spokes of the wheels and the legs of the horses. From where Aridha had disappeared to! A sudden hole in her dried old guts, she ambled forward as quickly as she could, trying to get a better view.

“Use the horses, child!” she cried to Aridha, concern cracking her voice.

(By this point the giant frog had - wisely enough, she thought - chosen to squeeze itself under the wagon to hide there.)

Action: Move to I17, please, unless Aridha is herself moving back in which case Rana will put herself in between her and the beast.

Aridha glanced distracted at Rana and gave her an uncomprehending look. Use the horses? What, am I supposed tae jump atop one and smash this thing?

She shook her head and refocused on the gnoll. Something about it rankled her. A canine-man, it seemed to be mocking her just by existing; a gruesome parody of an intensely personal nightmare. She hated it SO MUCH!

Whipping her sword away, Aridha glared at the gnoll and gathered all her hate, all of her anger and rage, into her lungs. She let it loose in a blood-chilling sound that was as much howl as scream. The noise, festooned with magic drawn from the depths of her curse and laced with the power of the mysteries of nature, slammed out and impacted the gnoll with all the force of a physical wall!

(Thunderwave. Gnoll makes DC 13 Con save or takes full [roll0] damage, and is shoved back 10'. Half dmg and no shove on success.)

*KA-BOOM*

The thunderous emanations of Aridha's spell echo throughout the area. The sound seems to echo off the hills and cause every bird in the area to take wing. The gnoll manages to grab a tree as it is pushed backward to keep itself standing, and shakes its mane at the dazzling energy that struck it. All this was enough for the gnoll pack leader, he had seen quite enough.

YAAA-WHOO! YAAA-WHOO!

The loud howling brings every head around to the forest line ahead on the road...

fantasy-creatures-dog-art.jpg

The beast stands just outside the trees topping nearly seven feet tall and adorn in trophies from past victims. A few gnoll-bowmen take shots at both Emmyr and Zanword standing in the road catching Emmyr in the side, his armor stopping the arrow head from biting to deep. After the arrows fly the pack lord snaps at those gnolls, sending them fleeing into the trees.

A general retreat looks to have been called. All the gnolls currently fighting the group disengage and start back towards the trees. The gnolls sacking the cart grab what they can and hop down and start after their pack-mates.

"Nooooo! Help me, it's happening! Help me PLEASE!"

At the cries for help the group sees Javin being dragged out from under his cart, caught in a net just like the vision had shown. He fights feebly at his restraints, a look of horror etched in his face.

(Speaking of those in nets.)

Templeton had found the net he was in has caught on the tree beside him and he needed to dislodge it before he could get himself out. As he tugs at the taunt string a pair of huge clawed hands grab him from behind by the shoulders. Unbalanced and off guard Tepleton is thrown to the ground and the gnoll that Aridha had just struck picks up the rope tied to the net and starts to drag the rogue towards the tree line.

Emmyr takes the gnolls distraction to step up and cut deep into one of the beasts that was enchanted by the faerie fire from Rebekah. His blades slash deep into the creatures thighs and back as the unprepared dog-man whines and falls before the dwarf's weapons.

Little white dot means difficult terrain (mostly forest) and provides cover, also moving through any of the cart space is difficult terrain. Aridha could move straight to M14 at the cost of 40' of movement. Saying she dove under the cart and came up on the other side. When in the cart space please let me know if you are under it or on top.

Red dot means wounded

cover = +2 to AC and DEX saves
COVER = +5 to AC and DEX saves
TOTAL COVER = cannot be target with attack, may be caught in AoE[/sblock]
