I completed my article on how to create a elevation or depth game board similar to the commercial product called "combat tier". My version of course is highly customizable and can be used for heroscape, heroclix, role playing games, tactical combat games, etc.
Its all made of acrylic pieces readily found on taps plastics website or if you're lucky enough like me to live near one can be picked up piecemeal in store.
Overall I think I roughly spent $45 bucks and got about 4x the play surface of what is sold in the commercial product.
