Was I the only one that, upon seeing the stirge was the choice monster for the elite article, was surprised that a vampire (or vampire spawn) stirge was not listed among the various elite versions?
Considering that a few of their recent elite opponents have been vampires or their spawn, why was the stirge not accorded this honor? Granted, considering its HD it would most likely have to be a vampire spawn, but even that would have made more thematic sense than a ghost brute stirge (although the idea of an incorporeal stirge is interesting) or a two headed green dragon stirge (which, while interesting in some respects, comes across more as a unique encounter. Also, considering what stirges typically feast upon, the cone breath weapon is more likely to liquify their potential prey rather than incapacitate it).
