Emoticons turned off?

For some reason I'm just seeing a blank where smilies and other emoticons should appear in my posts.



The above line should consist of three 'smilies'. I'll post this then edit as to whether I can see them or not.

EDIT: I cannot see them in the post, and stranger yet I can see neither the emoticons nor the : and ) in the edit window.

I can't find any setting that lets me turn them on or off. Is there one?

Now that's really odd - I see the music and the 'shroom just fine but not the smile. Wtf?

Update: now they're working fine again. No idea if something glitched for a while at my end or the forum end - very strange.
