I'm trying to calculate the starting wealth of a 100th level character. The chart on page 23 of the ELH only goes up to 40th, and gives no formula for calculating above that level. After several failed attempts at trying to find a pattern (even resorting to my graphing calculator to find a quadratic equation for it), I gave up and decided to bring it here.

Please no flames, as I know only an idiot would think of making a 100th level character. But I am just curious how the wealth chart works after 40th level.

Btw, my best rough estimate came out to 260,000,000 gp.

[Disclaimer: Any relation of this post to any person, real or fictional, is purely coincidence.]

Could someone post the pattern. I don't have the ELH, but I do have a TI-83 and a year just spent doing this kinda stuff. Maybe I'll get luckier.

[EDIT] What you need is a ExpReg function. Input the values in the List normally, and then hit second, Stat, Calc and scroll down to ExpReg, it's 0. I tried this with the values in the DMG and it lined up perfectly.

[EDIT 2] According to this formula a 100th level character should have 3.18*10^17 gp. I hope you know what you're spending it on. ;)

No epic book handy but its a multiply by 1.1 round down to the nearest thousand for epic levels (the non-epic levels are supposedly around 1.3 so straight continuity doesn't work) since its 2.5 M for a 26th level character and 74 levels to a hundred a rough overestimate is 2.5 x 10^6 * 1.1^74 which is around 3 000 000 000 GP. Hope you have a good spending plan. Hmm less than half that buys you a +273 weapon.

Thank you all for your efforts.

DMwaV: Unfortunately, when you go epic, the rate of increase is less and less exponential. But I will try that way with the values in the ELH.

Kalanyr: I checked the figures last night, and only a few of them really came close to +10%.

Here is the data, in case someone doesnt have the ELH at hand:

20th: 760000 +28.43% =975000
21st: 975000 +23.08% =1200000
22nd: 1200000 +25.00% =etc.
23rd: 1500000 +20.00%
24th: 1800000 +16.67%
25th: 2100000 +19.05%
26th: 2500000 +16.00%
27th: 2900000 +13.79%
28th: 3300000 +15.15%
29th: 3800000 +13.16%
30th: 4300000 +13.95%
31th: 4900000 +14.29%
32th: 5600000 +12.50%
33rd: 6300000 +11.11%
34th: 7000000 +12.86%
35th: 7900000 +11.39%
36th: 8800000 +12.50%
37th: 9900000 +12.12%
38th:11000000 +11.82%
39th:12300000 +10.57%
40th:13600000 +??????

I tried ExpReg with the values between 20 & 40th level, and got an estimate of about 62,000,000,000.

I also tried ExpReg with the values between 31 & 40th level, and got an estimate of about 12,000,000,000.

I think it's obvious that the rate of increase is decreasing the higher up you go.

So anyone have any thoughts?

20th: 760k
21st: 975k
22nd: 1200kgp+300k=
23rd: 1500kgp+300k=
24th: 1800kgp+300k=
25th: 2100kgp+400k=
26th: 2500kgp+400k=
27th: 2900kgp+400k=
28th: 3300kgp+500k=
29th: 3800kgp+500k=
30th: 4300kgp+500k=
31th: 4900kgp+500k=
32th: 5600kgp+700k=
33rd: 6300kgp+700k=
34th: 7000kgp+900k=
35th: 7900kgp+900k=
36th: 8800kgp+1100k=
37th: 9900kgp+1100k=
38th:11000kgp+1300k=
39th:12300kgp+1300k=
40th:13600kgp

It looks like it flattens out at 34th level and above, adding 200k extra every other level, so...

40th:13600kgp+1500k
41st: 15100kgp+1500k=
42nd: 16600kgp+1700k=
43rd:18300kgp+1700k=
44th:20000kgp+1900k=
45th:21900kgp+1900k=
46th:23800kgp+2100k=
47th:25900kgp
etc

Hope that dark stabbing helps.

The increase is close enough to 10% to use that. At that level, the few thousand gp difference arent' going to interest most people. The values in the table are just rounded up to the nearest number with a nice number of 0s behind it. If you want, you can do that too.

I believe the treasure section of the ELH also mentions that the treasure values increase by about 10 %.

Damn my math....Zhure is right...it does flatten out. I think I'll go with that idea.

That means at lvl 100, the starting gold would be about 41,000,000, which sounds more reasonable to me.

Thanks Zhure for helping me point out my mistake.
