[Edit: Latest version available here.]

Hi folks,

Here's an updated copy of my Excel D&D monster index. It is still a long way from my eventual goal of including all D&D creatures ever published, but progress is steady.

What is indexed so far:
  • All 3.X D&D products published by Wizards of the Coast
  • All 3.X Dragon, Dungeon and Polyhedron magazines
  • All 3.X monsters from the Wizards of the Coast web site
  • All 3rd party Dragonlance, Ravenloft, Kingdoms of Kalamar and Oriental Adventures 3.X D&D or d20 products
  • Tome of Horrors (volume 1 and volume 1 revised)
  • All of the ENWorld Creature Catalog conversions
  • A variety of other on-line fan conversions
  • All generic 2nd Edition AD&D products
  • All 1st and 2nd Edition Al-Qadim, Birthright, Dark Sun, Greyhawk, Mystara, Oriental Adventures, Planescape, Ravenloft and Spelljammer products
  • About half of the 1st/2nd Edition Forgottens Realms products
  • Dungeon Magazine 1-30
Still to do:
  • The rest of the 1st/2nd Edition Forgotten Realms products
  • 1st/2nd Edition and Saga Dragonlance products
  • 1st/2nd Edition Lankhmar products
  • Generic 1st Edition AD&D products
  • Original D&D products
  • Dungeon Magazine 31-81
  • Dragon 1-273
  • Polyhedron 1-143
As before, each monster entry includes the following information, where available:
  • A symbol representing the "canon" level of the source (as per the notes)
  • The setting the creature comes from (e.g. Greyhawk)
  • The source product and page reference or URL
  • The type of entry (Monster, Template, Unique, etc.)
  • The name, size, type, subtypes, CR and LA of the monster
  • Any class levels the particular creature may have
  • Any environment (or climate/terrain) information
On the right-hand side of the index is a global classification system. This is still under development, but should be useful for tracking down creatures which have changed names over the years.

This time around, I've also included a full list of sources, even for those products I haven't yet indexed.

As always, comments and corrections would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the kind words. I'll make sure I post occasional updates as I finish indexing more sources :).
