exit wounds enchantment + feats

A bow of exit wounds does an extra 1d6 damage and attacks targets behind the original target with a penalty of -4 to the original die roll per target (_4 for the first -8 for the second and so on)

How does this enchantment interact with woodland archer. Where if a target is missed during a turn, future attacks against the target on the same turn gain +4 to hit.

If a character is attacking two lined up targets and with his frst arrow he hits the closer but misses the second target, then with his second arrow the second target is attacked with both a +4 bonus and a -4 penalty canceling one another out?

More confusingly how does the exit wound enchantment interact with the penetrating shot feat. The penetrating shot feet makes each arrow affect all targets in a 60 foot line with seperate attack rolls. I think that all of the targets clearly recieve the extra d6 damage, but if the archer hits the closest target with a roll that would hit the second target using the exit wounds enchantment and then misses that second target when rolling for his penetrating shot feat how should it be resolved? If a target is 65 foot from the archer (outside of the effect of the penetrating shot feat) and at the end of a long line of targets subjected to the penetrating shot feat which die roll should be used to see if that target is hit by the arrow as a result of the exit wounds enchantment? the closest? the best?

Penetrating shot is a feat from Player's Handbook II
