Experiences with recharge magic from UA

Anybody have experience using the magic recharge variant from WotC's Unearthed Arcana? ( www.d20srd.org under the variant rules).

I have not used them but they look pretty good.

The plus sides for me:

1 spell resources are basicly per encounter instead of per day.

2 group can heal up fully in between combats even with only cure minor.

3 Casters can use their magic without as much fear of expending their resources and being left useless and vulnerable.

4 Can cast some buffs on one person enough to make them constant instead of having to guess when the combat comes.

Downsides:

1 Extra die rolling for recharge time.

2 Easier to run out of spells in combat waiting for spell levels to recharge leaving spellcasters without being able to do magic.

3 Extra tracking in combat to watch for recharge time, seems like it would be cumbersome.
