Feral Racial vs Class HD

My friends and I have been enamored of the Feral template from Savage Species, but we are not entirely sure how it should work. the question is when attempting to qualify for the Feral benefits, do you count your class HD in addition to any racial HD? Do your Class HD become d10s as well as your racial ones? The Special Attacks section says that it is based on Hit Dice, but to look in the row corresponding to monster hit dice. the Special Qualities section is worded almost the same way, but with no reference to monster hit dice. is the difference important? is this just a house rule situation?

Straight out of the SRD: "The creature’s Hit Dice equal the number of class levels it has plus its racial Hit Dice. Additional Hit Dice gained from taking levels in a character class never affect a creature’s size like additional racial Hit Dice do. "

That answers most of my questions, do all future class hit die become d10s? or does that only apply to racial HD?

It applies to all hit die if it is beneficial to do so, it is a template and they apply to the entire character it specifies.

It only applies to racial HD.

It's like how the Half-Dragon template doesn't improve the skills or HD of any class levels.
