Fisk Dukar

Fisk Dukar spent most of his life in the footsteps of his father, Sgt. Fedzick Dukar, who was an officer in Stormhaven’s navy. Sgt. Fisk was a very low ranking officer, but is nonetheless proud. Fisk knew all of his life that he would join the navy as soon as he was old enough. Fisk would even sneak out of his house and follow his father to work and spy on him.
As a young child Fisk followed his father everyday for a few years, and was caught on more than one occasion. When Fisk matured, he and his father practiced combat training together everyday after school. It wasn’t long before Fisk was regularly defeating his father in sparring duels. They were approximately the same size, but Fisk was far more agile. Either way, it was time for Fisk to join the Storm haven navy.
Fisk spent months training just to get into the military, and trained even more when he was finally accepted. He spent almost a whole year doing routine drills and saw very little combat.
Fisk was eventually put on board a very important ship as a ‘grunt.’ That’s what the captain called him at least. Captain Nelios was a brash, but very honorable person. He controlled one of Stormhaven’s largest ships, The Trinacomerium.
Fisk was ordered around constantly, and not just by the captain, almost everybody ordered him around. All he heard were shouts of: “Boy! Mop the deck!” and “Grunt! Sharpen my blade!” or from some, “Rumbringer! Bring me some rum!”
Fisk was fed up with his apparent inferiority among the crew and decided that he would do something of use whether he was ordered to or not. The captain was boarding an enemy ship in order to make peace arrangements, and Fisk decided to follow. The captain seemed at ease as usual, but the goblin pirates on the other ship seemed very nervous. Many crossbows were pointed in the direction of Captain Nelios, but still he remained calm. Fisk could tell that he had been in similar situations before. The goblin captain came and spoke with Nelios proposing a treaty. Nelios tried calmly to haggle a deal but was interrupted by goblin shouts.
“SPIES!”
Fisk had been spotted by one of the crossbowmen on aboard the other ship and before he knew it bolts were flying. Fisk ran below decks and hid, ashamed, as the rest of the crew went to battle with the goblins. It didn’t take long for the crew of The Trinacomerium to vanquish the goblins, but there were a few casualties. Fisk came out of the lower decks just in time to see some of the ship’s crew carrying the body of Captain Nelios’ dead body.
As soon as the crew was returned to Stormhaven Fisk was court-martialed. Stormhaven’s naval commanders took great shame in Fisk’s mistake. Many Stormahaven locals and also those loyal to Nelios gathered at the docks to witness Fisk’s sentencing. Finally, one of the city’s scholars emerged with a paper, and read it aloud: “I hereby state, that Fisk Dukar is the shame of our navy. He was the cause of many deaths including that of our beloved Captain Nelios. Mr. Dukar has been sentenced to board a new ship with a crew far more more honorable than he. Mr. Dukar will be boarding “The Scallywag,” a small pirate ship in this area, which is run by a decrepit old man, and his crew of mangy misfits. Furthermore, Mr. Fedzick Fisk will also be retired as his duties as sergeant.”
As far as the sentencing goes, Fisk wasn’t actually very relieved. He figured that “The Scallywag” couldn’t be any worse then “The Trinacomerium.” But Fisk was very upset at their decision to retire his father when he still had at least 20 years ahead of him.
As far as Fisk was concerned, following Nelios onto that goblin ship was the best thing he’d ever done. It brought him back to the days when he followed his father onto his ship. It was actually the most fun Fisk had ever had in the navy, and Fisk is all about fun.
Fisk started off a little shaky on “The Scallywag,” but soon became accustomed to the lifestyle. After a few months he found himself on a new ship, and every few months afterwards another. Fisk learned far less combat than he did with his father, and more about using his agility to surprise foes. Fisk also never knew he could learn so much about ships and sailing. They were always avoiding the chase of the navy and the occasional wannabe adventurers. Fisk ran into the Stormhaven navy on multiple occasions. Usually smaller ships, captained by rather unimportant people. Fisk actually killed one of the lower ranking naval officers as he tried to board their ship. He left a note for the Stormhaven commanders in place of their captain:

“I guess that’s two captains’ deaths I’m responsible for!”
Sincerely,
Fisk Dukar

Fisk’s only regret so far is the fact that he lost his father his job. Every month, without fail, Fisk sends a letter to his parents including a portion of the loot he has captured. Usually about 10%.

Fisk has been on the sea lion for a good while now and is looking to stick with a good crew that can eventually make a name for themselves. He doesn’t look for naval officers to kill, but won’t let one stand in the way of what he is after.
