Flaming sphere, what happens when you get pushed into it?

What would happen in your game if you tide of iron'd (fighter attack and push 1 square power) an enemy into a flaming sphere?

the player pushes the foe back into the fiery ball,

a free attack?

auto damage?

the enemy goes into the same square and takes automatic damage?

having not read up the rules of the sphere particularly well, the DM made a judgement call and said the enemy and the sphere occupied the same space.

It does exactly what it says on the tin!

If that guy 'starts his turn' in the square he takes damage. No other damage unless the wiz uses a standard action to attack with it.

You can't enter a square that has an enemy conjuration in it. The push would fail, and the enemy would take no damage from it.

That's not true, the "update" on wizards clearly states that conjurations don't take up spaces unless otherwise stated by the power. If conjurations worked as you said it does, wall of fog would be amazing.

So there's a little rules hole for flaming sphere right now.

It's not that different to Flaming Sphere in 3E/3.5, which only dealt damage if the caster took a move action to move it into a creature's square.

At any other time, the Flaming Sphere in 3E/3.5 didn't deal damage.

Actually... it says "any creature that starts its turn next to the flaming sphere takes... damage". Next to = inside, unfortunately. When the errata came out, people were discussing this... It actually seems like it could be a good protection for the mage (or any other ally).
