Flavoring the Non-Witch Adept

I'd like to add some flavor to the Adept class, to explain their combination of arcane and divine spells.

The enightened philosopher.
The "force-user"--manipulates a universal divine power source.

Cultist -- worships "something" that's not a god and gets spells in return.

Any thoughts anyone? Or is "Non-Witch" too narrow?

I'd say it is not specific enough. In may games I usually use Grenn Ronin witches for my adepts, so no help on the non-witch adepts there. In general, I regard any non-cleric divine casters as animists, who venerate various spirits to get their powers.
