For the new House Bard

First Post
A parchment hastily written but still legible appears on the notice board. But even haste apparently didn't prevent the first letters from spelling out the subject matter.

How long they linger over wine and ale
Only to hear another try and fail;
Unhappy guests… but you know that I jest!
Seeing the smiling faces and the rest
Eager to hear another tale or song,
Begging the bards to stay and to prolong
A lovely evening full of rare delights,
Romantic ballads, songs of fearsome fights--
Defying logic that such things could be --
Conveying truth within a fantasy
Of far-off places and exotic clime.
No wonder that so few noticed the time
Ticking away and trickling to a close.
Eventually none were left but those
Seeking to find out who had won the test;
The answer was: a Lark had sung the best!

My, Miss K, you do have a wonderful rhyming ability. Perhaps you are a bard as well, and if you aren't, you should become one. I would enjoy the company of one with such interesting control over the elements of a poem.

Thine truely,
Ariel "Dew" Du'Pontevise
