For Us It Was a Tuesday

In the virtual 'space' of the network, a series of orbs detached from Echo's body and whirred across towards the drone icons. Cybercombat was loud and noisy. The results were more final, but it could easily reveal her presence to the system. Better to be quiet.

The spheres orbited the drones, seeking paths of ingress...to infiltrate and corrupt them from within.

(OOC- I have discovered some 5e hacking resources online that might really help clear up the confusion over how all this works. I know it's helped ME out a lot over the last couple of days. I'll put some links up in the OOC thread asap)

Echo is able to tap into the security protocols of the drones and change their attack programming so that the machines have new orders to avoid attacking any humanoids that they detect, and to also shut themselves down. She also finds that the original programming called for the drones to activate when an alarm was tripped and then to attack any living organisms that did not carry a specialized microchip in their body, or which were not escorted by someone with a specialized microchip. Just a few days ago the order was changed once more which activated all drones in the facility and gave them orders to attack any creature that was not a registered Aztechnology employee. Soon after, another attempt to rewrite the protocols was attempted but never completed.

The party hears the machines power down and it is safe to approach them.

The rest of the room seems safe, and though you don't find any Aztechnology employees, you do find small pieces of them here and there along with tattered clothes strewn about, the occasional shoe, and plenty of blood stains. Several computers are still on, their bluish screens casting pale light along the room in the intervals where the above lights fail, and there are many printed documents strewn about the cubicles, many of which are marked by Aztechnology as Confidential.

Floch pockets the documents for later use in the blac market he could earn some credits for them he guess, anyone commenting about it will be greeted with a snort from the Troll. The others can check the terminals and the drones.

"Written documents," Echo muses as she goes over to look at one of the drones. "Unusual. And whatever attacked this place left the drones alone. They were trying to rewrite the drone targeting. Strange. One would think they could simply manually designate targets."

If the drones are small enough, she picks one up and sets it on top of one of the desks.

OOC: Deuce Traveler, can you please confirm whether Thistle still hears the "hair-dryer-like sound of moving machinery?" I'm guessing these sounds were the drones and that it is now quiet, but I thought I'd better inquire to be sure.

[section]Thistle lowered her Ruger when it became clear the drones no longer posed a threat. She stood still a moment, not wanting to move prematurely. After a few moments, however, she approached the nearest computer terminal and looked around at both the monitor screen and any documents strewn in the cubicle not yet pilfered by Floch.[/section]
[sblock=OOC]What language are the docs written in? What's their subject matter? If Thistle thinks the subject matter somehow pertains to organized crime, drugs, the black market, or they are written in Japanese (unlikely, I know), let me know and I will roll the relevant skill check for Thistle.[/sblock]

The hair dryer sound was indeed coming from the drones, and they have stopped. Echo is barely able to pick one up a foot off the floor, but she strains as the weight is pretty heavy. Putting one on a cubicle desk is not practical due to the size, so she places it back down.

Thistle takes a closer look at many of the documents. The reason for writing now seems a little clearer as these are rough architectural drafts, likely designed on paper before being set to computer. Most of these are different design ideas for a large, circular band of metal being held up by a ring of slanted metal pillars. From the notes, the insides of the pillars would have various methods of delivering power onto the band.

[section]Thistle grabbed one of the drafts not already nabbed by Floch, and shoved the schematic in front of Salvatierra's nose. "What do you make of this? Looks like a schematic for a power supply to me."[/section]

Salvatierra blinks, as if woken from a dream. "Schematics, yes. Yes, they do seem to be that," she says, and takes the paper in both hands, letting the assault rifle dangle on its strap. She peers over them for a moment. "Hmm. Hmmm."

She runs a hand through her hair. It has not escaped her notice by now that this place has Aztechnology written all over it, literally. The old familiar prickle runs up and down the back of her neck, which she ignores, for now. If there are any details written in Aztlaner that she can translate, that's job one. If Aztlan rears its ugly jackbooted head, she could cross off that bridge when she came to it.

OOC: Is there any documentation or notes that a native speaker could help with?

Salvatierra goes through the documents and finds a few more disturbing references. It would seem that not only electricity is pumped through the metal ring, but also large gallons of cooled blood kept alive through a complicated series of equipment. In fact, roughly translated from Aztlaner, the device itself is called the Blood Ring. There is nothing else that you have been able to learn from the notes in the room.
