Blizzard stands at the back furthest from the clearing waiting to see what the impetuous youths decide for a course of action. Clearly they are ready to fight so he hefts his old carved staff and makes ready for war with a smile on his grizzled face.

Now that combat is imminent, Isdar loads his hand crossbow and moves quietly toward the clearing. True to his own advice, he focuses on watching the edge of the forest for hidden enemies.

After entering the path in front of you, you find yourselves in a rather wide clearing. The thick vegetation surrounds a roughly round terrain with some swampy area and a few tall trees in the middle. A pool of cear water can be seen on your right coming out of the trees and undergrowth.
You all can see the drake Oak was talking about. As it sees you too, it hisses grinning its teeth at you.

There's an enormous spider crouching on the branches of the trees in the center of the area (N10) you know this species is particularly fast and definitely poisonous. There's also a creature you've never seen before, hiding among the trees and undergrowth and the swamps, (P12) looks like a humanoid that has convered itself with leaves [/sblock]

Isdar seizes the advantage his reactions have given him, stepping around some of the swampy terrain and firing his crossbow at the drake. He smiles in grim satisfaction as he sees it strike home in the creature's vulnerable underside.

Oak moves towards the tree in the center of the clearing, while shouting warnings to its companions.

"There's a gator in the water! Watch out for a humanoid near the tree! And this spider..."

...Oak takes two quick slashes at the arachnid...

"...is swift and venomous!"

The second slash lands home with a squishy wet sound, as the longsword drives deep into the arachnid.

The drake whines pitifully in pain at Isdar's shot and hisses angrily in his direction.

Oak moves towards the tree in the center of the clearing, while shouting warnings to its companions.

The second slash lands home with a squishy wet sound, as the longsword drives deep into the arachnid.
The big spider reacts with uncanny quickness and jumps from the tree past Oak and sprints to Meriadeth, biting her painfully, and with such strenght to knock her prone (12 dmg+knock prone, +5 ongoing poison dmg and slowed till save)
