[FR] Mount for Gold Dwarf Paladin

Lazybones

Adventurer
I've got a gold dwarf paladin of Moradin that's about to hit 5th level, and I don't think that a heavy warhorse fits with the character or the setting. The party's in Cauldron of the Dungeon "Adventure Path", ported over to the Forgotten Realms.

Gold dwarves, for those who aren't familiar with the Realms, come from a massive canyon called the Great Rift and live mostly underground in caverns that connect up to the Underdark. This fellow's a sort of exile, although he refuses to assimilate to the culture of the surface nations.

Suggestions for an alternative to the "standard" warhorse?

Why, they've been breeding riding lizards for thousands of years.

They're not too fast in cold weather, but they don't need barding.

A mountain goat. or a ram.

That way he could take weapon focus (headbutt) and simply charge his mount into the BBEG.

Gold dwarves use riding lizards as steed in subterrainean locations, war ponies on the surface.

There is a prestige class in Races of Faerun that allows them to use hippogriffs as mounts.
