Gold piece thingy broken?

So, it was my understanding that you were supposed to get a gold piece for every xp you get, I currently have 14, yet I only have 2 gold pieces, I also thought you were supposed to get a gold piece for commenting on articles, which ive done a few times (more than two), yet I still have only 2 gp.

So the only way to get gp (for free anyways) is to start new threads? I guess I need to start makin more threads if I plan on gettin that FR badge.

I think people can also transfer you gold.

AAIK, starting new threads is the only way to gain gold. You could start a thread in Meta about donating gold to find out for sure...

...and gain a gold in the process.

In your profile, you can get gold pieces which you can then use to buy badges. Apparently the only way to get them (other than paying for them with real money, or having someone gift some to you) is to make threads.
