My very first step into the online role-playing world was with an elven ranger in the CRT. I wasn't sure what to do, so I watched the room and the people. Eventually some started talking to me. I had a storyline with a character, a bunch of friends. One thing I remember most about playing my character in that day was that people would greet you when you came into the CRT. (It reminded me of Cheers, where you'd enter and people would wave, call out, greet you. ) It was a friendly place.

Then, in my offline game world my character died (speared by a charging elephant.. good learning experience. ) and so I made up a red-robed mage of Krynn. Actually.. the story backs up a little... I had talked to a friend of mine and told him I wanted to turn my mage into someone "pure", a mage of the white robes. So, he DM'd a test of the Tower of High Sorcery for me. I was able to bring along a friend of mine - Natalie- for the test. I had others in the room, watching (I even believe it was done on the Wizards site, if memory recalls..hmmm).. it was incredible fun. My character passed the test and became a mage of the robes of white. Well.. after this my friend approached me (this was the one who had played another elven ranger.. hiding names to protect identities heh) and we were talking in character one day and he asked my mage to teach him a couple spells. So, I played out that she was training him to cast magic.

The funniest thing in this was that my character, offline, was only a 4th level mage. He wanted to know my level and if I would play along in this storyline. I told him I would, and when he learned my level he laughed and told me that my character and this ranger are now connected. I would have to teach him a spell, every day, until my spell book knowledge was expired. He'd PM me a note and tell me to have my friend do this. (He was forced to answer my character's desire. He couldn't fight against it - his DM's rule.) It was such a laugh and all involved would wind up laughing about it after, or on the pagers or what have you. At the end of all this, I gained my wish. I made it without really knowing what a wish spell was. It was a bit more than I bargained for heh, but it wound up being a source of amusement for many years.
Ah, the memories. Having been on this site for some 5 years now, I have seen many great things. I love the site and will sometimes just hop on for the sake of doing something with a non-WizO character I have. I'll post some of the things I've seen over the years, some of my memories.... When I first came upon this site, I was brand new to D&D. I had only just begun gaming and was still learning the ropes as far as rules went.
