Perhaps the PC's radio-wave teleport announcement begins with a bit of static and some eerie theremin music- like you'd get with a sci-fi radio serial- and his departure would likewise be accompanied by similar theremin themes.

OK, seriously, this would be a good one to use....

Something a little closer to your original idea would be delivering the hero's catchphrase or announcement in the voice of whomever is on the radio, a la Videodrome or Being Human.

That way, it might be the dj's patter being altered, or the RKO announcer, a trusted newsman or even Nat King Cole himself singing the arrival of The Frequency.

This is a stretch, and already has ties well familiar to gamers...

Radios in the 20's contained crystal oscillators to stabilize frequencies, so how about calling him the Ocelot? This could work especially if he was from South America and you could model him roughly after Zorro. :3

Hmmm.

That makes me think of this: perhaps he can remotely manipulate radio equipment- or anything with a speaker- to emit oscillations of the right pitch and power to shatter glass.

It doesn't sound like much, but that means windows, drinking glasses, eyeglasses (no plastic lenses yet!) and light bulbs all go away.

And if he can see by radar...
