Hi all,

I'm just returning to gaming after several years of wife/kids-based hiatus. I've never played Pathfinder, but I was very familiar with 3.5 D&D and began a campaign that never really took off in which I had designed a fighter that excelled in grappling.

I'm a little rusty, but I had a progression planned in which I could trip a humanoid opponent and then grapple them with overwhelming opposed rolls (due to bonuses) and there was even a feat from FRCS (I think) that allowed me to use small weapons from a grapple, so daggers and the like.

As I'm brand new to Pathfinder and still swimming through the 8,000,000 resource books, I'd love for someone to help me out and point out any feats/classes/abilities which may help me to recreate this build or similar.

Much appreciated!

Well, you're probably going to want to be either a Monk (Tetori) - (basically the monk archetype designed for grappling), a druid (where you wildshape into something big and nasty and then grapple, or a full BaB class (nothing specifically to recommend it, but full BaB helps grappling).

Note, incorporeal/teleporting or foes with freedom of movement on cannot be grappled unless you are a Tetori of a certain level (so really that has advantages over the druid or the fighter).

I'm not sure if you're aware but there's a great site where you can easily skim through (almost) all of PF material.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/

Taken from the feat tree section these are the feats you can look up:
Ki Throw
Binding Throw (just what you're looking for, let's you grapple after tripping)
Hamatula Strike
Hamatula Grasp
Body Shield
Choke Hold
Fury's Fall

and the like...

Also, if your DM will allow it, there is a class in the Advanced Class Guide Playtest (the book will be released on August 15th) called the Brawler. It is a Fighter/Monk combo that gets a ton of feats (and even lets you switch some on the fly), full BAB, bonuses to combat maneuvers of your choice and specializes in unarmed fighting and weapons from the close weapon group.

If you can't wait for the book to come out, the playtest document can be downloaded here
