Help with stat-block: Advanced Ogre

Does this look correct ? (Note: yes, the language says goblin...I mean besides that.) :)

Big Cousin Ripper; Advanced Ogre: CR 6; Size L; HD 16d8+48; hp 115; Init +3; Spd 30 ft. ; base speed 40 ft.; AC 20, touch 8, FF 20; BAB +12/+7/+2; Grapple +22; Melee Greatclub +18/+13/+8 (2d8 + 8); Ranged or javelin +10/+5/ (1d8 + 5); SA -; SQ Darkvision 60 ft., low-light vision; AL CE; SV Fort +13, Ref +4, Will +5; Str 22, Dex 8, Con 16, Int 6, Wis 10, Cha 8.

Languages spoken: Goblin

Skills and Feats: Jump -6, Listen +5, Spot +10; Improved Initiative, Improved Overrun, Improved Sunder, Power Attack, Toughness, Weapon Focus.

Equipment: Hide (15 gp, 25 lb), Tower shield (30 gp, 45 lb), Greatclub (5 gp, 8 lb), Javelin (1 gp, 1 lb).

The two questions that come to mind: should the BAB just be +12 (single attack)? What should his movement be in Hide Armor?

1. You're advancing this ogre by Giant hit dice. That's fine, I guess, but the normal method of ogre advancement is by character class. Given that assumption ...

2. His BAB should be just +12. However, he's not attacking with a natural weapon, so he does gain iterative attacks, so his Attacks line should read +18 / +13 / etc.

3. You should specify Weapon Focus (Greatclub) in his feats line.

4. His movement in Hide armor is the same as a base ogre's: 30 ft.

Weapon damage seems to be a point too low for both the club and the javelin.
Greatclub is a two-handed weapon, how is he using a tower shield?
Also the weight of his equipment may be off:)

Agreed. They should be 2d8+9 (=6 * 1.5) and 1d8+6, respectively.

Also a good question.

Good point! From the SRD:

SRD said:
Weight: This column gives the weight of the armor sized for a Medium wearer. Armor fitted for Small characters weighs half as much, and armor for Large characters weighs twice as much.

So, his Hide armor should weigh 50 pounds, and his Large tower shield (assuming he'll still be equipped with it) should weigh 90 pounds.

Good points and corrections! Much Thanks!

The Base Speed was a typo on my part, while the tower shield was just a brain fart. :p

How's this look?

So, he's only going to carry a single javelin? You should take at least two with you, to benefit from your multiple attacks per round.

Also, is there a reason he's advancing by Giant hit dice rather than by character class? (Just curious.)

EDIT:

Also, is there a reason you put his 16 HD stat bump into Charisma instead of, say, Strength or Con?

THe only reason why I could see why he is advancing by Giant Hit dice is to keep the CR of the encounter down.

If he did not mind increasing the CR, then increase in levels of barbarian or fighter, fighter if he wants to be heavily armored, and even use that tower shield he originally gave him, or to give the barbarian, to get increased speed.

With the advancement rules being so open ended you can do so much :)

Why does the ogre speak goblin but not giant? It feels . . . weird.

Well, it's supposed to. :)

EPRock has the right of it: I advanced him that way for DR issues, and to make him functionally different from his brother. As for his stat bonuses, only 1 point was used on Charisma, to bring him to an eight. The others did indeed go to Str and Con. As for the javelins, it will depend on which room he's encountered in. In his normal room, he won't have any (nor any call to use them). In the other location he might be encountered, he'd have acess to a whole basket of them.
