D&D 4E Hexblade Adaptation to 4E

Thattanguy

First Post
Heres my attempt to begin adapting the Hexblade class from 3.5E's Complete Warrior to 4E. Most of the class features roll-over quite nicely actually, but I would definitely love to have some input for power building, Paragon Paths, Epic Destinies and such. I would like to take some liberty with the Power Source though, and id like to hear some feed back on it.

Hexblades are the shadowy defenders in a world where its sometimes necessary to give darkness a taste of its own. Drawing upon the twisted and dark Shadowfell, Hexblades channel magics that most goodly people would find unsettling at best and revile at worst.

You bear a desire to avenge wrongs against you or those you hold dear, or maybe see the darkness as a way to fight those corrupted beings who use it to subjugate others. Mentoring under another Hexblade, you learn how to call the Shadowfell's dark influence to this realm and curse your foes and augment your abilities in combat at the same time. Yours is a path few walk for it can lead into the corruption you vow to slay, but you know that sometimes there are necessary evils and vengeance isn't always hollow.

Creating A Hexblade

Hexblades usually come in two forms: Dark Avenger and Accursed Dominator. Dark Avengers prefer to enhance their bodies and attacks with the stuff of Shadows to better their melee prowess, while Accursed Dominators beckon the darkness to cripple their foes from a distance before snuffing them out.

Dark Avenger

You have been wronged so acutely that you feel it is your place to dole out vengeance not only for yourself but others as well. Strength is the primary ability for your strikes and should be your highest score. Charisma should be next as it augments most of your powers effects and is used for your ranged attacks. Constitution and Dexterity are both good scores for you since you have low AC and often engage in melee.

Suggested Feats: Power Attack (Human: Action Surge)
Suggested Skills: Athletics, Bluff, Intimidate
Suggested At-Will Powers: Shadowy Strike, ??
Suggested Encounter Power: ??
Suggested Daily Power: Touch of Idiocy

Accursed Dominator
You use the powers you draw from the Shadowfell to hinder and harm yours foes from a distance, crippling and killing them slowly but surely. Charisma should be your best score as its your primary ranged attack ability and also augments most of your power's effects. Dexterity should be your next best score since it effect your ranged basic attacks, initiative and AC. Constitution and Strength help with survivability and melee prowess.

Suggested Feats: Improved Initiative (Human: Toughness)
Suggested Skills: Arcana, Diplomacy, Streetwise
Suggested At-Will Powers: ??, ??
Suggested Encounter Power: Phantom Threat
Suggested Daily Power: Tasha's Hideous Laughter

~Thats all for this post. Next time I'll post my ideas for some feats, items and maybe a Paragon Path. Feel free to post ideas and comments, but please, make them objective, not opinionated. All the class features and powers posted thus far were made up on the spot as i wrote this post, so any resemblance to to other parts of the PHB or peoples ideas are purely coincidental. If that is the case, please let me know and lets try to correct it. ;)
