D&D 5E HotDQ homage to Mere of Dead Men *SPOILERS*

Bumamgar

First Post
Episode 6: Castle Naerytar takes many cues from the final two adventures in the Mere of Dead Men series of adventures from Dungeon 69 - 73 (considered by many to be the first 'adventure path' for D&D).

The castle itself, with its Farseer of Illusk, is detailed in "Mistress on the Mere" by Paul Culotta in Dungeon #72. HotDQ updates it with brand-new maps and inhabitants.

Additionally, Episode 6 makes mention of the black dragon twins, Voaraghamanthar and Waervaerendor, who were first featured in "Eye of Myrkul" by Eric Boyd in Dungeon #73. If, by some chance, you've actually completed those adventures with your players, and the dragon twins were slain, you might have to modify Tyranny of Dragons a tad to replace them, since it is assumed that they survived, and HotDQ mentions that they will make an appearance in The Rise of Tiamat.

Of course, the Cult of the Dragon was the main adversary in the Mere of Dead Men series, attempting to recover the bones / essence of Chardansearavitriol (Ebondeath) from the sunken Uthtower, leveraging rings of Myrkul to cause it to rise during the celestial event known as the Eye of Myrkul.

Anyone else notice any other explicit links to prior adventures in HotDQ?
