How do you overcome the "improvise a character name" problem?

Back in the days, it was just Bady name book then added a Mac to a name/think. Even just never even had a last name in some, just when with name of a place. No, I am Bob of West Kingsport, you are looking for Bob of East Kingsport, lot of people get us confused with Bob Kingsport.

Then I use to give my players homework, provide 10 first names I can use and provide 10 sir names. I would then have a list I could draw from.

Now, random generators.

I have a set of several alphabetic d6, and I just roll a few and make up a name that uses two or more of the letters rolled.
