How does this work

I've read all the links concerning the DnD Adventure's League. However, I'm slightly confused on how this works. Like the DCI code, where does one find out the DCI code needed to join in on the world. I'm down for this and I always wondered how it would be to go sit down with someone completely different from your normal group. Strangers should I say...

You simply need to create a Wizards Help account and it will assign you a DCI Number.

But if you have ever played in a Magic the Gathering sanctioned event or one of the previous Living Campaigns you may already have a DCI Number assigned to you. In that case you can contact Customer Service to retrieve it.

Wizards used to produce cards which you would fill out on one side and then tear off the end.. This end part is what the player would take away with them, while the details on the other side were entered into the WOTC database. However they no longer produce these cards anymore and now like the post above states you log into the site to get the number.

However Wizards produced a LOT of the card signup variety version so some stores still have a lot of these.
