D&D 5E I have something... THE TARRASQUE!

Dausuul

Legend
It's dishing out an average--average--of 148 hp every round, just on its own turn (so not counting legendary actions or swallowed creatures). It's immune to half the world, and it has 676 hit points.

I admit, it feels odd not to have the regeneration, but holy crap, does it really need it?! :uhoh:
Considering a single levitating archer with a +1 longbow can grind it down to zero over time, I'd say so, yeah.

Definitely going to house-rule a thrown boulder attack.

I'll do you one better. Assuming you can get enough magic bows - or enough castings of Magic Weapon - a horde of 100 skeletons from a 20th-level Necromancer can drop him in 9 rounds. He can kill just 3 of the enemy skeletons per round.

seeing its gargantuan and it can jump............

also, nothing in the rules states it can't throw a small home at someone

Pros: I really dig the art.

Cons: I'm guessing these two pages are all the tarrasque there is? If so, then I'm disappointed by the short, airy descriptive text and the lack of iconic regenerative powers.

No idea, all previews have been limited to two pages at most, I guess we can ask Mearls on Twitter. It would be odd if there isn't a third page since they stated before that the new Monster Manual was designed to be more like the second edition Monsterous Compendiums, since those are most people's favorite monster books. Also given the amount of pages they've given over to flavor and role-playing in the PHB, it would be odd to not see them do the same for monsters.

Also, don't they need to roll pretty high to hit him?
Skeletons will only hit it on at natural 20, so first round they do about 55 damage a round. The tarrasque can kill between 7 and 8 skeletons a round (since a 33 hp skeleton will survive a tail slap). The skeletons will do about 350-400 damage to the tarrasque before it kills them all.

How is it just 3? I would think 8ish.
The skeletons have in excess of 30 hp due to the necromancer feature, so only the bite and tail get to kill one each. e: and maybe not the tail, looking at it.

The skeletons only hit when they crit, and do 15 avg damage (well, 16 with +1 shortbows) for a massive 0.8 DPR each, x100 = 80
