I Need Music For A Ruined City!

I'm running a session tomorrow in Maelbrathyr, a ruined tiefling city in the Underdark. It's mostly abandoned, yet it's extremely ornate and beautiful, in an eerie sort of way. I'm trying to find music to reflect that feel.

The only piece I've settled on is [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vcFFf9aa7k"]Battlestar Sonatica[/ame] from the Battlestar soundtrack. Does anyone know any music with a similar feel?

The Host of Seraphim, from Dead Can Dance.
Definitely! :)
Eerie is just the word to describe it.

I'm weary of posting this link, because this video is from a movie with a strange name i can't remember now (not enough coffee yet), and probably the images aren't connected to what you want. Just listen to the music first :)

Where'd that name, Maelbrathyr, come from?

Check out some tracks from Midnight Syndicate or Nox Arcana. Eerie is what they do best, and you can listen to samples of pretty much all of their songs on Amazon or youtube, and order the specific tracks you want from Amazon.

Ditto on Midnight Syndicate & Nox Arcana.

While, you need the songs now, the ones you don't get today are great discs to pick up on November 1st-3rd when most once per year Halloween storefronts are offering 50% or more off the whole store.

Are Lyrics ok? The first three Theatre of Tragedy albums might have some stuff that could work; Theatre of Tragedy (1995), Velvet Darkness They Fear (1996) & Aégis (1998)

I don't think I could work with lyrics. I'll definitely check out Nox and Midnight, though... that sounds promising.

The name Maelbrathyr comes from the 4th edition Underdark book (which has been a very nice resource thus far). In fact, I'm using the ruined city with only slight alterations to its theme.

Excellent selections, I'd throw this in from the Final Fantasy XIII soundtrack Dust to Dust by Matsue Hamauzu & Masashi Hamauzu, very sad, mournful music. -Q.

1) Try songs by Earth, like:
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYcQT8F58OU]YouTube - Earth - The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull[/ame]

or

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKT0vKI3W8Y&feature=related]YouTube - Earth - Omens And Portents II: Carrion Crow[/ame]

and really, just about anything else they did.

2) Pretty much the entire soundtrack for The Passion of the Christ by Peter Gabriel, like:
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8Rro1EPLW4&feature=related]YouTube - Peter Gabriel 04 Lazarus Raised[/ame]

3) Vangelis' early work sometimes has a very moody feel to it, like this (poorly recorded) sample from his album, Soil Festivities:
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32UODtg41zc&feature=related]YouTube - Movement 2 - Vangelis[/ame]

4) Tangerine Dream's stuff goes in cycles as well, with some light stuff and moody stuff...check out Atem:

5) Phillip Glass' Koyaanisqatsi has some nice stuff on it:

6) Surprising though it may be, industrial metal shredder Buckethead has also done some stuff that works for this. His work as Death Cube K is all sparse and atmospheric... and sometimes sinister, such as:
