OOC: Once again, the rope gives advantage which counters the disadvantage at least, but to no avail.

Thael slips quickly on the slick stone and can't hold his grip. He tumbles down into the muck taking [roll0] falling damage.

Kilvo easily makes his way down.

The boy is adept, especially with the rope, and climbs down without a problem.

The elderly man mutters something about, "I'll stay here and call for help if you need it. Many people get lost in the caverns."

He thinks for a second. "Perhaps this will help you more than me. Aspect bless."

He drops a small pewter circumfix (a circle with a human figure in the middle) down the hole. It plops into the muck. It's too dark to really see it.

Everyone is now in a small unlit room of some sort. The area smells of old yeast, barley, and decaying herbal components. The muck on the floor is some mix of sludge, rainwater, mud, and whatever detritus left behind by whatever vermin have found this place.

OOC: Beaten by a kid! Gah is it bright enough to see without a torch? Don't fancy lighting up just in case it explodes but don't want to take Vanguard if its pitch black

OOC: It's pretty dark past the first few feet. You can barely see where you are at (dim) and it's essentially dark past that. Perhaps, with some time, your eyes can adjust a bit (Perception).

Ersarkess takes out a lamp out of his pack, checks the wick and lights it.

OOC:
Shouldn't really be dangerous, at least not this close to the chimney. Famous last words :)

Thael stands up, frustrated and dirty. He spits a bit of blood, then closes his eyes and mumbles unintelligible words. Suddenly, there is light. he then mumbles some more, and a tiny whirlwind appear on his dirty clothes, and seems to clean them. Once this process is complete, he periodically mumbles some more from time to time.

OOC: Cast light, then prestigiditation, then guidance. I should have had him cast guidance before climbing down, but forgot...
Next ability check (including init) or save will add [roll0]

The flicker of a light starting sends cockroaches into motion on the floor.

With the light of the lantern you are able to see that you are now in the ruins of a collapsed brewery. Six huge metal tanks are in ruins on the north and south walls. Another chimney and boiling aperatus is to the south, though it looks like the collapsing of the roof has destroyed that particular passage. This structure must have, at some point, been two stories high.

Bags picked over by rats and worse once contained grains and fuel. Barrels are broken or damaged and scattered about. The Western walls are heavily damaged, what was once a pair of doors looks like they could be pryed through.

Sorwheel explains, "We came here at first, found coins under and around the ground. We tried to sell some of the scrap as well. The rats ate most of the food, and the drink has gone sour. We would crawl through that hole when in desperation after that. There were knives and cups and a bit more gold there..." while pointing towards the door.

The boy navigates into the tasting room of the now collapsed brewery. He is very careful to navigate towards the south wall where there once was an entrance. A cavern stretches out from there descending approximately fifty feet. The slight trickle of water can be heard on the western side of the tunnel.

Sorweel explains, "We had candles. Lots of little candles. So we could find our way back."

He points to a small smudge of wax on the ground.

The tunnel opens up into a larger cavern heading both north and south. The trail of wax seems to lead to the south. The sound of trickling water now sounds like it's above you.

Ersarkess curiosity drives him forward, but narrow passage makes it difficult to come forward.

"Maybe someone else should follow the trail first so we don't lose Sorweel to an accident."
