True to his word, Nighthill only lingers long enough to confirm that the group will be heading out before he is off, calling for his castellan and already laying plans for a sortie out of the gates once enough bodies can be rounded up.

The group gathers themselves up once more and heads for the tunnel. Despite their best plans, the rats do not make a reappearance, still nursing their wounds, or just too wise to get caught again. Soon you find yourselves in the night air at the bottom of the gully once more. The night's action seems to have calmed somewhat, with most of the raiders still circling the keep, or returning across the stream to the enemy encampment. Except of course, for those assaulting the mill.

Jeni smells the smoke in the air, and contemplates her home village, now destroyed. She pushes aside the emotions rising in her there will be time to grieve tomorrow she thinks to herself. Her bow is ready, and an arrow is nocked, ready to dispatch an attacker foolish enough to cross her sight. She is a predator, and she will taste blood.

Jeni is moving swiftly and silently with the front scouts. She doesn't move as fast as she can so they can keep up with her. As they approach the mill, she tries to count the number of raiders around it. She spits and mentally curses them. There is no reason to burn grain. It is a waste of nature's gift, a desecration of her bounty. Her anger rises. Rage focuses her thoughts; This is evil, and must be stopped

OOC: stealth [roll0]
Note that I am stopping short of having Jeni shapeshift into jeni_bear and go beserk on the raider around the mill because the number of raiders would definitely modulate her response. So, the question is: how many raiders are there?

Wincing as she squatted against a nearby tree, Morgan said, "Alright folks, let's get eyes on this place and see what we're dealing with... hopefully we aren't facing an overwhelming force like last time."

Hunter hid behind some debris near his commander, at the suggestion to get some eyes on the place he starts to creep forwards to see what he could find.

Moving forward slowly and quietly, the scouts are able to get sight of the mill without being seen. The mill is a simple rectangular barn, about 40 feet long and 20 feet wide, with an attached, exterior office. The long side of the building away from the stream has barn doors and a two-part door, and the two short walls have windows . All these openings are closed. You are able to catch sight of a small force (3 guards, 1 acolyte) with torches, heaping up flamable material against the building side.

OOC: Wisdom (Insight) checks, please

As Hunter and Jeni take a moment and get a closer look at the soldiers gathered around the mill, a strange pattern of behavior emerges. They're certainly not very effective. There are heaping piles of hay being set fire, but not very close to the walls. There are a few different piles, but it wouldn't be very hard to put them out, scattering their fuel, and the mill is in no real danger. The only real effect they are having is to send a tall pillar of smoke into the sky, and indeed the acolyte stops every so often to admire the smoke and glance back towards the keep, his gaze passing over your skulking forms easily.

Jeni reports back to the group, and adds some comments. "They're not trying to set fire to the mill. They're making smoke signals. I wonder if the dragon is to be involved. Regardless, we need to stop them!". She looks to Morgan for approval.
