I'm Running 1e!!!

the Jester

Legend
So in addition to my regular games, I've started up a 1e casual pickup game in the most old skool tradition (I'll prolly just run random old adventures sometimes for that group with no campaign 'bridge', or at least not much of one, sort of like the old Conan stories wouldn't necessarily connect).

It is such a different game than 3e- my 3.5 games are totally fun, but the 1e game was totally fun too, in a different way! Not all the players had played 1e before, so it was neat watching someone pick up the game for the first time.

Just thought I'd share. :) We're prolly playin' it again tonight. Works well for random gaming without a real prep time investment. :)

Sounds like a lot of fun! My 1e games were always pretty fun. I wish I could scrape together a group to play. :( Oh well, perhaps someday! Keep us posted on how it goes!

My brother and I along with a few others will occasionally run a 1e adventure. It is amazing how fasty we can roll up and finish PCs in little time.

the Jester

Legend
Everybody's first level; so far we have:

half-orc ftr/clr
half-orc ftr/thief
gnome thief
elf (?) magic-user (can't remember for sure the race)
and another character (who isn't quite done being created, but prolly will join us next time we play this group) is going to be a human assassin.

The party's first adventure saw them in a city under siege, trying to find an escape route. After harrowing sewer delving (in which they encountered green slime, a weak old otyugh, giant rats galore and more) they found the escape route they sought. After they returned to report they found a major attack underway and helped defend the walls, pushing a siege ladder off and helping overwhelm a group of attackers that had reached the top of the wall.

Their second adventure is a quest for an illusionist's tower. He's dead, and his treasure has never turned up. So far the party has encountered a number of weird outdoor 1e monsters, including a water weird (in a pool in mountain stream), a bowler and a flail snail. When we left off, they were heading towards a goblin area.
