Exotic Weapon Master can gain a +2 on trip checks if they take the appropriate special ability and apply it to an exotic weapon that can already be used to trip with.

Several people have already mentioned items that improve ability checks, but without specifics. There are two generic ones - luckstone (+1 luck to a bunch of stuff including ability checks for 20k) and pale green prism ioun stone (+1 competence to a bunch of stuff including ability checks for 30k). There's also armbands of might (Complete Adventurer), which gives some nice bonuses including +2 to strength checks for around 4 or 5k.

The other big bonus that nobody's mentioned yet is the minor aura "Art of War" from the marshal class (Miniatures Handbook). It gives a bonus equal to the marshal's charisma modifier to a bunch of stuff including trip checks.
