We will continue to support gaming in our industry leading magazines, online and at our conventions. We thank our dedicated staff for all their hard work, as well as our partners and readership for their loyal support."

Well that just sucks!! I just renewed my 2 year subscription a couple of months ago. It must be hard for print mags to make a profit anymore.

There was a time when there were 3 major CCGs magazines.

Beckett Magazine, Inquest Gamer and Scry. Beckett has folded, Inquest is folding and thus we're only left with 1. Anyone want to take bets to see if Scry lasts the decade?

The internet truly killed these mags as sales of CCGs keep going up every year. You would think that Pokemon and Yugioh would have crested but it seems they like Magic have become staples of youth culture and unlike D&D where it seems we have more people leaving the hobby, the reverse seems to be true....

Wow, how many print gaming mags are left? :(

Reminds me of In Good Company where an ex is advised not to advertise in magazines any longer, since "Nobody's reads anymore. It hurts their eyes."

While this might suck for those who enjoyed Inquest, I never could get around the juvenile humor and articles with lack of content. Every once and a while I'd pick one up from the newstand only to remind myself why I couldn't stand the magazine. Guess I won't be tempted to try again as I won't be seeing it on the newstand anymore.

Gaming magazines are certainly a dying breed. I wouldn't be surprised if the few remaining die a quiet death in the near future. Sigh. Progress, I suppose.

...So. Anyone know of any good sites to get going card rates these days? :(

I'll miss Inquest. it gave me a nice summary of various CCG newsbits I might otherwise have missed.

A thirteen-year run isn't bad at all. However, I won't be too sad to see it go; the tone was too juvenile for me.

[imager]http://www.hcrealms.com/gallery/data/500/COVER_300px.gif[/imager]Bill rock and I do a competing online magazine called Critical Hit. It's free and focuses mainly on HeroClix, but we've recently expanded to feature a lot of other games. I do all the layout and imaging, and its alot of fun. Content is #1 in our opinion, so maybe you'll like our magazine more. Check out all the current issues here

(I'd go backwards though, the later issues are cooler than earlier ones)

I miss magazines like Challenge, Shadis, Scrye and Autoduel Quarterly. So many great projects gone forever. I struggled for 32 issues to publish a print zine in digest format, but it was so expensive to print and mail. I'm glad we still have Dragon and Dungeon, but I really wish there were others.
