Well, hopefully you wouldn't be spamming about it, though.
It would be just a product announcement, like any other, how is that SPAM? RPG product announcements are condoned are they not?

I have about 18 various podcasts on rotation and they basically say, "Hey this game is on Kickstarter" and then start talking about it like they talk about any other game released by a big company, their cousin, or that they randomly found in a store. Guess it depends on the podcast leaders more than anything.
Yeah, I see/hear it that way too. I don't get all the Kickstarter vitriol.
There's also IndieGoGo, and various in-house patronage systems like Open Design and Rite Publishing's in-house system. These are all patronage systems, exactly like Kickstarter - you never hear, anti-Open Design comments on the boards (though there shouldn't be, of course, likewise there shouldn't be similar Kickstarter antipathy, either.)
Well even though I have run 2 Kickstarters I do get the vitriol as it does indeed become tiresome on both ends of the communication stream. But speaking towards podcasts ONLY I haven't had issues.
One man's treasure another man's trash. That is just the way of the world.Well, I've run one Kickstarter, and one in-house Rite Publishing patronage, as well as 10 'out of pocket' RPG releases - it's all the same to me. I see KS as funding source only, otherwise having no other imposition to creating RPG products. I don't get the vitriol, at all.

Sadly self promotion will always follow these kinds of trends. They always have and they always will. It will find some kind of leveling at some point where it just...is. However, it is causing a huge change in everything, forums, podcasts, and so forth. For people who are very happy with the current way of things aren't going to love that.
I think the Spam aspect is part of the turn-off.
In the old bank loan model, hearing about a product did not mean "help us by giving us money"
In the KS model, everytime somebody uses the word KickStarter when talking about their product, its a request to give them money.
"Hey, Tomb of the Nine Kings is on Kickstarter. Help us fund this project!" (i.e., give us money)
OK, let me rephrase that. No matter what method of promotion, for my products, anyway, I haven't witnessed any vitriol at all. Only seeing random KS vitriol in general, not to any specific product promotion.
The 'hate' seems pointed at Kickstarter only, not the projects being promoted.
