Announcement from main chat page:

ISRP Chat Moving Off Wizards' Website

Wizards in-character roleplaying chat area, ISRP, will be moving to a new home on August 15. Based on guest feedback about migrating to new chat software, two current ISRP WizOs have volunteered to host existing chat software, ISRP rooms and bots to provide continuity of play for ISRP guests. As of August 15, Wizards will no longer be hosting the ISRP rooms but players will find a link to its new home on the existing chat URL. Chat related forums will be archived until the end of 2005 for player's ease of reference.

With Wizards assistance, we hope the new host will be up and running in parallel with the Wizards site to ease transition until the old site closes its doors on the 15th. More details will be announced closer to the transfer date. Meanwhile, RPG Live will continue to be hosted by Wizards on the new Chatspace software. Questions can be asked about the move on this thread or to the Community Manager at boards@wizards.com.

Mel, could you please, as promised, put in the "link to its new home on the existing chat URL"? Meaning to the site itself? Because right now the only link is to this discussion thread which isn't nearly the same.

The old ISRP is no longer linked from the Wizards pages. You have to have bookmarked the site to get there at all. And you have to go past all the notices of closure and log in to get the information about the new URL.

ISRP Relocation Update

Unlikely-Heroes.com [link] is temporarily hosting the ISRP chat rooms. Head over to find your favorite tavern or emporium as well as the hosts who make the settings great!

The ISRP related message boards here on Wizards will continue to operate until the end of the month, so pop in for more discussion on the relocation.

I am both happy and disgusted to hear this news.

Happy, because it means that hopefully, we can make this site what it has the potential to be, without wizards mucking things up.

Disgusted, because Wizards is just dumping us. I'm reminded of the Fiasco that got rid of the Tavern the first time around. I pray this isn't a temper tantrum, too, though I am not holding my breath.

Ahh yes, the troubled history of ISRP.

Some Wizo's had a temper tantrum because things moved from AOL and never showed up to do their jobs at the new site.

Then the tavern found new fans and grew in its own way, gathered a new area lead and new wizo's, (though they were TSRO's then) and managed fine without the 'old guard" So some Wizo's had a temper tantrum and had the room description yanked.

Then they had the duelling settings and some wizo's decided to show us all the "right way" with ... what was it called? Eagle peak? Only no one showed up. So some wizo's had a temper tantrum and all stormed off to the interview area where they could show proper defference to the game site gods. (Yanking all website support as they went. )

Then a bunch of newer wizo's and members came up with plot lines, maps and histories for the Emprium and CRT and even provided a website. And some wizo's had a temper tantrum.

See a pattern?

So, here it is then... you will no longer have the D&D name to draw new blood. You won't have "official" sanction ( or grudging tolerance. )

But you will have ownership. Everyone will have as much claim to ownership of the site, it's history and it's future as the "wizo's" in charge. It's not a wizards property anymore. ( Actually, it never was... it was a derivative work and it has bits of all that those of us who contributed over the years put into it. )

No one will be able to have a temper tantrum and go running to the site manager. Who ever runs the place will have to get people to stay and contribute by making them want to. They have no stick, no threat of banishment from all things wizards.

And if you don't like the way things are being run... just take a copy of it all, take your friends, and start your own clone, or better, something original.

To those that continually worked in good faith to make shared experience..to make the true magic, no matter how fleeting, of a truly shared world of imagination and creativity. I salute you past, present and future.

And to those whose petty personal power trips spoiled that fun for others, whose bitterness eroded the magic... you're going to be lonely :D

This thread's a lot like the failure of nuclear deterrence. Everything's all well and good so long as the two political entities are happy threatening and disliking eachother.. but once the lines are crossed, all Hell breaks loose.

S'over and done with. WotC was, and ENWorld is. ^^

Maybe we should hope that someone locks this topic, since the move has already happened and all?
