Item Familiar and Character wealth

Ferrum

First Post
Simple and to the point, does an item familiar have an affect on a character's wealth?

I'd imagine the original item's value would count, but sapience, senses and communication would not. However, I'm not sure if special abilities would.

I could see the Lesser and Greater Power prerequisite costs haveing an effect, but I'm not sure about that either.

Can anyone provide any clarification?

DM fiat.

For a player coming in, it costs X, Y, and Z - with X, Y, and Z being what they invest into it in whatever fasion; the base item, the gp/xp/skill points/spell slots/whatever they pay into it.

My own advice?
This cost them a feat to get.

Total up just the price of the base item before it became a familiar, and the GP values only they put into it. The rest has as much impact as, say, a Familiar would have on character wealth - none, officially.
