EDITS: total defense for YY, saves made, hp updated from acid attack.

Skynjun

*What are these creatures and why do they attack us?*

*We do not know. Notice they do not shed their spines at the others.* *<PAIN> We are injured.*

*And it appears others, also unknown to us, are coming from the west. We must defend ourselves.*

*Agreed. We will attempt to determine what it is we fight.*

<After Root Understanding, to the creatures we have been tracking> "Help. Fight. Djarkar."

OOC:
XX -- Free: Root Understanding on the dark-furred bipeds
Free: Nature check vs. the Djarkar
Standard: Sun Strike vs. DJ2, surely a miss
Move: Second Wind, heal 7hp, +2 def untl end of next turn
Minor: none
Save vs. vuln, fail

YY -- Free: Assist XX's Nature check - success (though should only be a 14, used wrong modifier)
Standard: RBA vs. DJ2, hopefully a hit
Move: Total Defense, +2 all def until start of next turn
Minor: Shroud of Shadow, gain 5 temp hp and partial concealment until end of next turn
Save vs. vuln, pass

[sblock=Combat Stats]
XX
16/28 hp, vuln 2 ranged, og 5 acid for one turn
5/6 surges

0 Second Wind
+2 all def until end of next turn

YY

OOC: Answers for Skynjin:
1) Nature: You are fairly certain that the Citadel archive never mentioned a Djarkar nor described a creature of it's description.
2)Root Understanding: It is clear that 'Djarkar' is what the spiked creatures are called.
3)Primordial Fluency: 'Djarkar' sounds like the word 'djark' which means 'to change.'
4)Passive Insight: It is clear that the ape-like creatures are more afraid of the Djarkar than they are of you.

Note: YY, if you are not going to move, you could go into a total defense. Edit it into your post if you want.

Note: XX and YY, you both need to make a save.

Djarkar B Turn 1:

OOC: -DB is different from the other four creatures overhead. DB also has a roughly ape-like body but no spines. DB has a large toothless maw with two mandibles on each side and a large distended belly.

-DB moves away from the shardminds. Then it's distended belly flexes inward and a glob of putrid bile flies out of it's mouth towards the shardminds splattering XX and YY for 5 points of acid damage and they gain 5 ongoing acid damage until the end of their next turn (in other words, they will only take it once.)

Grutsa Turn 1:

OOC: To the Aspects of Skynjin: You can see the dark-furred humaniods beyond the ashen-skinned ones as they stand with spears guarding the grey-furred one. The grey-furred one kneels on the ground and closes it's eyes. You suddenly feel it's presence in the ground beneath your feet.

It's mind touches your mind:
I am Grutsa, Root Shaman of the Tramoch Clan. Why have you come to our sacred mountain and brought the wrath of the Djarkar on us?

OOC: The Aspects of Skynjin can have a free post to respond. Be sure to include any check rolls as part of your response. Then the round will end.

OOC: It's spelled "Skynjun" :)

I believe the acid spit should have missed YY (Ref 15, +2 for total defense, -2 to hit for partial concealment)

XX reaches back first. *Grutsa of Tramoch, we are Skynjun of Haramathur, sent here to defend this world. We mean no harm and will protect you from the Djarkar to prove our intent. We, too, come from a sacred mountain. How might we show our proper reverence to yours?*

OOC: Thanks for the corrections Skynjun.

Rule Clarification: Concealment confers a penalty to attack rolls, not a bonus to defenses. Area attacks ignore penalties caused by concealment.

-Skynjun of Haramathur, we cannot allow the Djarkar to follow us back to the camp. If you will defend us, I will call upon the mountain to defend you.

OOC: Up from the ground in front of you, a head and shoulders made of strands of light emerges and then reaches out to both of you. Suddenly, strands of light spring up from the ground, covering your bodies like vines. Both XX and YY have a +2 power bonus to all defenses until the end of the encounter.

Adaka

Even as Izera charges ahead, Adaka knows what is to come. They have done this a thousand times. His devotion to Lauka is absolute, her's no less so; combined they are Her hands. One to take life, and another to preserve it. Adaka focuses that devotion outward, and even as he and his wife seem to fade from the world, a light ignites from inside them, brighter than any torch. As Izera bounds ahead, Adaka sends her airborne, right into striking distance.

-Minor Action: Radiant Bond
-Move Action: Move 5 forward.
-Standard Action: Ready Telekinetic Leap on Izera (at end of her double move).

Izera

Without a second glance, Izera leaps into the air, catching the tendrils of Adaka's grasp. As soon as her eyes lay firmly on the beast, she utters her oath. It is the sound of freshly turned earth. It is the sound of leaves, rustling over a grave. "From this day, until your last, I am a shadow of death."

Izera brings her scythe down.

-Move: Double move, 12 squares.
-Minor: Oath of Enmity on DB.
-Now in range from Adaka's Telekinetic Leap.
-Action Point: Aspect of Might.
-Izera gains +5 athletics, +2 speed, +2 to damage rolls until end of encounter.

OOC: Oh man, 17 and 15. Blech. Terrible rolls.

Damage is 26 (3,3,3,4,3,3 +7 because of feat) if a 17 hits AC. Or 13 if it does not (Miss: Half damage)

Would Adaka be able to action point or did the ready/standard effectively end his turn?

GM: Hmmm... Action point from the first partner at the end of the second partner's turn but still within the couple's turn. I'm going to allow it. In fact, I'm going to allow that from now on. I think it's cool. But before Adaka can spend the AP, DD's readied action goes off.

DD Readied Action:

OOC: -As her blade leaves the Djarkar's flesh, Izera notices a green spiked shape hanging from the canopy just down slope as it hurls a spine at her. The spine, thrown with an almost desperate rage, lodges deep into Izera'a side for 11 damage.

OOC: Izera and Adaka are both insubstantial until the end of their next turn due to Radiant Bond, so Izera takes 5 damage.

Izera
37/42 HP

Adaka
37/37 HP

Adaka

Rasing his arm, Adaka uses the burning devotion of Izera as a conduit, and a bolt of pure light shrieks toward her target.

-Action Point: Astral Condemnation on DB.

OOC: Okay. F*** this die roller. I'm switching to Invisible Castle. It is at least backed with an entropy based RNG.
Either way, DB now has a penalty to his damage rolls equal to 8 (5 + Cha Mod).

... I hate these dice.

DJ Turn Round 2:

OOC: DJ1 and DJ2 throw spines at XX. DJ3 and DJ4 throw spines at YY. XX takes 7 damage (which includes the vulnerability and bloodies her by my count) and is vulnerable 3 versus ranged (save ends.) YY takes 6 damage and is vulnerable 1 versus ranged (save ends.)

Aspects of Skynjun are up.
