Bodak squirrels?!? LOL!

I can see it now: Look, guys! It's a cute, fuzzy little squirrel - OF DEATH!!

Great stuff! Can't wait to see Kit's write-up! :)

BTW, as a completely unrelated aside - anything can be made to sound more sinister with the addition of the words "of death" at the end. Try it in your everyday conversation and see how you like it.

"I'll have an ice tea - of death"
"Bryan's at the boat show - of death"
"We watched an hour-long family feature - of death"

The possibilities are endless!

Cheers!
Ian

This is all Robbert Raets fault. I kinda cheeted and allowed a creature to be bodaked at below 5 hit dice. I still find them rather amusing.

Flif: Yes, but some things just don't work well that way. Jell-o of Death is just not intimidating.

The Chittering Dark were created long ago, when a horde of demons laid waste to an entire forest to get at one elder druid. The squirrels of the forest rose up, and became as the bodak.

They have pale grey fleshless flesh, and their faces look as though they have been twisted by madness. Their eyes are bulging yellow orbs, and their mouths constantly chitter, as they did in life, but incessantly.

The Chittering Dark moves from forest to forest, killing the entire squirrel population in each one, as well as several other animals, and slowly raising an army of bodak forest animals.

Combat

Death Gaze is the only form of attack the Chittering Dark uses.

Damage Reduction (Su): A Chittering Dark ignores 15 points of damage from most weapons and natural attacks; the wounds heal immediately. A silver weapon deals full damage.

Death Gaze (Su): A Chittering Dark’s gaze brings death. A fortitude save DC 10 negates. It has a range of 30 feet. Any corporeal creature (except constructs, plants, oozes, and undead) slain by this gaze become bodaks in one day.

Energy Resistance (Ex): A Chittering Dark is immune to electricity and ignores the first 20 points of acid and fire damage.

Flashbacks (Ex): From time to time a Chittering Dark sees something that reminds it of its almost-forgotten life. At the start of every encounter, there is a 5% chance that it notices something about an opponent (randomly determined, if more than one opponent is present) that causes it to recall its life. If this happens, the Chittering Dark takes no action for 1 round and thereafter suffers a –2 morale penalty to attacks directed at that opponent.

Sunlight Vulnerability (Ex): Chittering Darks loathe sunlight, for its merest touch burns their impure flesh. Each round of exposure to the direct rays of the sun deals 1 point of damage to the bodak creature.

Undead: Immune to mind-influencing effects, poison, sleep, paralysis, stunning, and disease. Not subject to critical hits, subdual damage, ability damage, energy drain, or death from massive damage.

Skills: *Chittering Darks receive a +4 racial bonus to Hide, Move Silently & Climb checks. They add their Dex modifier to Climb checks rather than Str.

Also funny with 'in your underwear'.....
X-Men 2 - in your underwear
Don't go changing - in your underwear

But you can try 'Lesbian Goth' or 'Totally Naked' as well :D

It's not half as fun as replacing random words in quotes with something totally different, like chicken.

'Use the chicken, Luke.'

Later,

Krishnath: That should read "Use the lesbian goth chicken of death in your underwear, Luke." :)

Kit: The idea of "Jell-O of death" scares the wadding out me. Your mileage may vary, however. :D Love the chittering dark, BTW. Great stuff!

Cheers!

The Hypno-Toad is an incredibly powerful psionic mastermind, imprisoned in the body of a giant toad.

The Hypno-Toad appears as any toad would if it were seven feet long and nearly as wide. A pattern of greenish flecks run down his brown-gray, pebbly hide. His cold blue eyes, however, glow with a feral intelligence, even when it masquerades as an unintelligent animal.

The Hypno-Toad’s origin story is a bizarre and complex one. He was originally the animal companion of a relatively powerful druid. The druid and toad had been companions for decades, but the druid decided to callously reject the toad in favor of a legendary wolf sent by the spirits of nature as a test of his loyalty to his friends. He failed. He cast an awaken spell on his friend the toad, and expected it to go about its business as a sentient creature while the druid adopted the wolf. The spell backfired, giving the toad far more intelligence than it should have, and unlocking his brain’s true potential. The newly created Hypno-Toad, consumed with the need for vengeance, burned the legendary wolf to a crisp and made the druid the first of his many thralls.

The Hypno-Toad channeled his feeling of betrayal into a deep loathing for all humanoids. He found partners in arms with the illithids, who taught him how to refine his newfound powers. After aiding the illithids in their quest to find and corrupt a copy of the Sutra of Clear Thought and enslaving dozens of humans in a failed attempt to recover the Staff of Ancient Penumbra, the illithid god Illsensene bestowed the Hypno-Toad with Chosen status.

The Hypno-Toad parted ways with the illithids soon after this, deciding he could get retribution easier if unburdened by illithid motivations. He now seeks to gain control of a kingdom of his own, for his ultimate goal is godhood.

Combat
The Hypno-Toad prefers to avoid combat, but he is an absolute demon when forced into it. He uses his psionic powers tactically, and is not above using his thrall power to control his allies. He rarely resorts to physical attacks, but will occasionally swallow a troublesome thrall or ally in order to make a point (or just out of hunger). Its tongue attack is a ranged attack with a range of 15 feet and no range increment.

Enhanced Attributes(Ex): The save DCs on all of the Hypno-Toad’s special attacks and powers is increased by +4 (included in their descriptions).

Frightful Presence (Ex): Merely by croaking harshly, the Hypno-Toad can inspire fear in his opponents. All creatures with less than 16 Hit Dice within 20ft of the Hypno-Toad must make a Will save (DC 25) or be shaken until the Hypno-Toad is out of sight. If the opponent makes the save, it is immune to the Hypno-Toad’s frightful presence for 24 hours.

Improved Grab (Ex): Whenever the Hypno-Toad hits an opponent of Medium-size or smaller with its bite or tongue attacks, it can make a grapple check without receiving an attack of opportunity (grapple bonus +29). It can choose to conduct the grapple normally, or to only hold its opponent in its mouth (-20 penalty to grapple checks, but the lurker is not considered grappled). A grappled creature takes bite damage every round, and can be swallowed whole.

Poison (Ex): The Hypno-Toad delivers its poison with its bite attack, which causes nausea, chills and widespread blood clotting. Fort DC 31 negates, damage 1d6 Con/1d6 Con.

Psionics: At will: amplified invisibility, animal affinity, brain lock, burning ray, mass suggestion, mindlink, mind probe, mindwipe, tailor memory, teleport without error, thrall, true telekinesis, ultrablast
Attack Modes/ Defense Modes: All/All
Manifester level 20th
Save DCs 19 plus power level for burning ray
Save DCs 21 plus power level for brain lock, mass suggestion, mind probe, mindwipe, tailor memory, thrall, ultrablast
Save DCs 23 plus power level for true telekinesis

Swallow Whole (Ex): By making a successful grapple check, the Hypno-Toad may swallow a held foe whole. Once swallowed, a victim takes 1d8+13 points of bludgeoning damage plus 1d6 acid damage every round until it escapes or dies. A successful grapple check allows the creature to climb out of the stomach and into the Hypno-Toad’s mouth, where another grapple check is required to get free. Alternatively, the swallowed creature can escape by cutting its way out with either claws or a light slashing or piercing weapon. Dealing at least 20 points of damage (AC 20) in this fashion allows the creature to escape. Once a single swallowed creature exits, muscular action closes the whole; another swallowed creature must cut its way out as well. A liopluerodon’s stomach can hold 2 Medium-sized, 4 Small or 16 Tiny or smaller opponents.

Telepathy (Su): The Hypno-Toad may communicate telepathically with any intelligent creature within 100 feet.

Skills and Feats: As a dire toad, no matter how removed, the Hypno-Toad gains a +4 bonus to all Hide, Listen and Spot checks, and a +8 bonus to all Jump checks. The Psychoanalyst feat gives the Hypno-Toad a +2 bonus to all Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate and Charisma checks made against humanoids. The Psychic Inquisitor feat allows the Hypno-Toad to detect up to three lies per conversation with a humanoid. If the Hypno-Toad uses the Psychic Inquisitor feat on an individual, it cannot use that feat on that individual for another 8 hours.

Demiurge out.
