A quick heads up for you monster fans, Wolfgang has published an ecology book, the link is here:

Kobold Ecologies (PDF) [KECOe] - $9.95 : Kobold Quarterly, http://www.koboldquarterly.com/

It looks awesome, and has these ecologies:

• The Ecology of the Barghest by Nicolas Logue
• The Ecology of the Centaur by Wolfgang Baur
• The Ecology of the Cloaker by Paul Leach
• The Ecology of the Derro by Wolfgang Baur
• The Ecology of the Golem by Ross Byers
• The Ecology of the Half-Giant by Clinton Boomer
• The Ecology of the Homunculus by Joshua Stevens
• The Ecology of the Lich by Richard Pett
• The Ecology of the Maenar by Matthew Hanson
• The Ecology of the Phantom Fungus by Scott Gable
• The Ecology of the Retriever by Matthew Banach & Clinton J. Boomer
• The Ecology of the Revenant by Joshua Stevens

Obviously the lich is best, but the others are also marvelous!

No no, obviously the derro is the best, it's on the cover!

Or possibly the centaur and maenad, since they are 4E. Hm, so many choices.

I'm curious to hear what monsters people would like to see in Volume 2. Anyone?

With all due respect . . .

Both of you fine gents couldn't be more incorrect.

The struggle for the vaunted position of "best ecology" is obviously going to be a knock-down, all out battle between the Homunculus and the Revenant.

Out of Their Minds

Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen. The efforts of the other ecologies have not gone unnoticed, but clearly, the "Ecology of the Phantom Fungus" is the best here. Surely, sanity must prevail.

"Sanity", quoth the man with a Cthulhu fetish. ::groan::

I do love the way that the Ecology of the Phantom Fungus reinvents a deeply silly monster as a much more interesting, Cthulhoid/Far Realms beast.

Congrats on the great review Matt....if you have a copy of this book, I'd love to see it before I decide to buy it or not.

As for me, I think that any creature that has to restrain its desires to be "sane" sounds interesting, though given the group that Matt plays in with me, I'm not sure I'd allow at least one of the players to play it.....

Of them all, besides Matt's, the one I most want to see is the cloaker.

Are all of those ecologies from KQ, or are some new? I have all the KQ issues, so I wouldn't buy it 'again', but off-hand I don't remember what articles were in the magazines.
