Names for Cirrian People of the City-state of Cirrus
These are the traditional names of the Cirrian people of the City-state of Cirrus. Cirrians are very rare elsewhere in the Lands of Harqual, as they originate from beyond the World of Kulan. The Cirrians came to Kulan through the Plane of Unseen Infinity and are more common in Kulanspace than on Kulan itself.

The names given here are typical for the plutocratic families of the city-state’s Upper City. Cirrians are very rare in the city-state’s Lower City. The list of surnames are specific to only the Plutocrats of the Upper City and anyone from the Lower City who tries to publicly ‘claim’ one of these names is usually hunted by the Spireguard.

Interestingly, only a handful of these surnames are unique to the City-state of Cirrus. Outlawe, in particular, is a common surname among the peoples of Wind Plains south of the Greystone Mountains. The Outlawe Family of Cirrus is aware of this fact but refuse to talk about it.

Male Names
Amor, Aquila, Cleeve, Cornelius, Eastyn, Erasmus, Esau, Esdras, Evered, Geoffraie, Henrye, Hughe, Jeames, Josias, Mathusela, Nathaniell, Nycholas, Octavian, Oswyn, Rafe, Theophilus, Valentyne, Zacharia.

Female Names
Amphillis, Avis, Betella, Benedicta, Blythe, Cicely, Christean, Eale, Edony, Ellyn, Frideswide, Holwice, Judithe, Love, Margery, Mariella, Myrna, Parnell, Sindony, Thomasin, Wyborough, Wynefrede, Vashti.

Surnames
Amondesham, Arderne, Brocksby, Brome, Caseberde, Champneys, Chaundeler, Daubernoun, Deryngton, Eldysley, Elmebrigge, Evyngar, Fane, Fitzgeffrey, Hicchecok, Hyll, Knevynton, Kyllyngworth, Leynthall, Mortymer, Outlawe, Penhallick, Plymmyswoode, Quintin, Reynes, Strangewayes, Wetherden, Wyard.

Names for the Strandlands
These are the common names for the Freeholds of the Strand. Names for Strandlanders aren’t based on any one specific type of human ethnic group but there is some influence from Anorians and Denilans but the names are more archaic compared to the names used in the rest of the Thunder Lands.

The first names listed below are used not only by humans, but also by individual half-elves and half-orcs, as well as some the land’s halfling families. Individual sundered dwarves might use them too but more often dwarves stick to their traditional names.

Surnames can be both traditional or descriptive depending on the individual person or family. Traditional surnames are primarily used by the oldest families in the Strandlands. The descriptive surnames are typically written in Harqualian Common.

Male Names
Aderik, Aeneas, Arruns, Caius, Calixtus, Conradin, Dattovir, Guibert, Gratian, Hattum, Iovita, Lar, Lennox, Manuel, Marcus, Menas, Nicholaus, Primus, Quinten, Remon, Thurio, Titte, Tubal, Vel, Viction.

Female Names
Ateia, Athanasia, Avita, Belsant, Blossia, Casiane, Dannia, Elchja, Eucharis, Ferran, Gavia, Huet, Iustina, Landricus, Lecia, Osgarda, Philippa, Pucelle, Reina, Setra, Tamora, Thiada, Viola, Virgilia, Zephora.

Traditional Surnames
Abergavenny, Bardanes, Bardolph, Baro, Bezin, Bradstane, de Challon, Chyrche, Duca, Eude, Glycas, Iden, Ilbert, Janner, LeFer, Mellors, Memor, Oorypha, Pansa, Philopona, Pomeroy, Ptochoprodromus, Rocque, Rhangabe, Salvodor, Starvling, Texier, Vatatze, Zonara.

NPC Template!

The attached zip file has a Word document and a Text file. Each file is a version of my latest NPC template, which is based on this page of my Wiki.

This version is slightly modified form what I have been using for my World of Kulan PCs and NPCs. I prefer this format to the new WotC Stat Block format, although bits of that format might end up being incorporated into my NPC template. (I've already started using dividing lines.)

I will never use this format or the WotC stat block format for monsters. Never.

Cheers!

Okay, my SCAP Campaign has gone in a slightly different direction then I had originally intended, but isn't that always the way it goes. The players wanted to explore the continent a little more so they've left Cauldron City and have traveled to various locales beyond the scope of the SCAP.

They traveled to the Town of Kul Moren, which is Toryn Stonecutter's home. (He's a expert/fighter.) Then they visited the City of Mor's End, known on these messageboards as the EN World City Project. There they met the propriators of the Downpour Alehouse, created by me, and ran into the captain of the city's guard, Thomas Haljan.

Now they've left Mor's End and are planning to brave the perils of Fortress Mountain, in search of an old frost giant's fortress. The giant's name is Gungir, and he is said to still to be alive after hundreds of years. (At least, that's the legend.)

The PCs are currently doing research in the City of Pretensa, in the Kingdom of izmer. The group's cleric/radiant servant of Jalivier, Argo Flamehart, has uncovered a problem with evil cultists of the Dark Reborn, under the city, and PCs are investigating before they tackle Fortress Mountain.

The other main PC, at this point, is the wizard known as Hezekiah. He is likely from an Alternate Material Plane, and was transported to the Lands of Harqual through a botched teleport spell. He was part of a traveling circus before the magical accident sent him flying through space and time (not his spell), and he wonders where the others of his troope might have ended up.

The group is also getting back a former adventuring companion; Meryn Moonshadow is a silver elf bard from the Kingdom of the Silver Leaves, and he has been searching for the PCs in order to rejoin them.

Once the PCs find and fight the frost giant, or whatever is currently in control of the giant's lair, then the PCs are likely to head back to Cauldron City. Once there they will have to deal with the fallout of their disappearance from the city, incluidng dealing with the Stormblades (see upcoming posts), and several other difficulties.

The PCs have also been planning on traveling west towards the City of Eversink and then to Avion City, on Harqual's western coast. They also have made comment on the idea of traveling east into the region known as the Eastern Shores.

Thus, the SCAP has been going on without the PCs. The Stormblades have completed the third adventure in that series ("Zenith Trajectory"), as I like timelines to continue forward, regardless of what the PCs decide to do. Lord know there is more than enough adventuring for them to handle, but they likely won't like the idea of the Stormblades stealing their thunder. The Stormblades will continue to handle the SCAP, if the PCs head off in other directions. ;)

Cheers!

Now deceased

Cora Lathenmire (CR 8)
Cora is the most quiet and bloodthirsty of the group. Quick to anger, most of the Stormblades’ fights start when Cora imagines an insult directed at her or her lover, Zachary. Although she’s taken pains to practice the graceful rapier fighting style used by her allies, after a few rounds of combat she always loses her patience and starts using Power Attack to lash out with wild abandon.

She has short red hair, numerous scars (mostly on her hands and forearms), and a swaggering gait. She dotes on Zachary, but thinks Todd is a coward and would like to teach him a thing or two about combat the hard way if given the opportunity. She would be horrified by his altered appearance, as rats are a phobia of hers.
Note: Her parents are well-known weapon traders, and they employ a number of smiths in town; characters who anger her parents may find that many of Cauldron’s weapons and armor dealers start charging them inflated prices.
Cora Lathenmire, Female Human, Ari2/Ftr7: Medium Humanoid (human); HD 2d8+6 plus 7d10+21; hp 69; Init +1; Spd 20 ft., base 30 ft.; AC 22 (+1 Dex, +8 armor, +1 shield, +2 magic), touch 13, flat-footed 21; BAB +8/+3; Grp +10; Atk +11 melee (1d8+3 plus 1 Con damage/x3, +1 wounding spear) or +12 melee (1d6+4/18–20/x2, mw rapier) or +11 ranged (1d8+2/x3, mw composite longbow); Full Atk +11/+6 melee (1d8+3 plus 1 Con damage/x3, +1 wounding spear) or +12/+7 melee (1d6+4/18–20/x2, mw rapier) or +11/+6 ranged (1d8+2/x3, mw composite longbow); AL CN; SV Fort +11, Ref +8, Will +7; Str 14 (+2), Dex 13 (+1), Con 16 (+3), Int 10 (+0), Wis 8 (-1), Cha 12 (+1); XP Earned 37,026.

Has returned to Stonn

Ionesco Valdeshar (CR 9)
Ionesco has returned to Cauldron City to seek out the two swashbucklers that killed their master, in Duvik’s Pass, and put them down for stealing their master’s championship ribbons and trophy cups. He isn’t doing this to placate the priests of Bast, but to kill a pair of lesser swordsman who do not deserve too have those items.

However, he will be handing over those items to Jenya at the Temple of the Cat, as he believes that keeping them would be dishonorable, since he didn’t earn them. This will likely happen soon after the Stormblades return from Bhal-Hamatugn. After that he won’t have anything to do with the Church of Bast again.

Ionesco is also looking for both Soja the Kitt and Toryn Stonecutter for a perceived slight (insult) that the two made at his expense. He expects compensation for said insult and allied himself with the Stormblades in order to negotiate from a position of power.

Ionesco has taken over the leadership of the Stormblades, after Annah led the group into their present situation. Their lives hang in the balance, on Occipitus, and if Ionesco get the others back to the Material Plane alive, then he will be greatly rewarded. Both Cora and Todd have promised to talk to their respective families in order to get the Valdeshar family name registered as a minor noble family of Cauldron City. (Todd has no intention of keeping this promise.)

Ionesco Valdeshar, Male Human, Ari4/Swb6: Medium Humanoid (human); HD 4d8+12 plus 6d10+18; 88 hp; Init +4; Spd 30 ft.; AC 19 (+4 Dex, +3 armor, +2 magic), touch 16, flat-footed 15; BAB +9/+4; Grp +12; Atk +14 melee (1d6+5/18–20/x2, mw rapier) or +14 melee (1d4+6/19-20/x2, +1 stiletto) or +13 ranged [1d8+2/x3, composite longbow (+2 Str)]; Full Atk +12/+7 melee (1d6+5/18–20/x2, mw rapier) and +12 melee (1d4+3/19–20/x2, +1 stiletto) or +13/+8 ranged [1d8+2/x3, composite longbow (+2 Str)]; SA insightful strike; SQ dodge bonus (+1), grace (+1); AL NE; SV Fort +8, Ref +8, Will +8; Str 16 (+3), Dex 18 (+4), Con 17 (+3), Int 14 (+2), Wis 14 (+2), Cha 15 (+2); XP Gained 54,226.

Skills and Feats *: Balance +8, Bluff +8, Climb +8, Diplomacy +9, Intimidate +9, Jump +15, Listen +8, Ride +9, Sense Motive +8, Spot +8, Tumble +11, Use Rope +6; Combat Expertise, Combat Reflexes, Leadership, Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Finesse.
*Receives bonus skill points and feat for being human.

Languages: Common, Denila, and Maviun.

Possessions: +1 dwarven waraxe*, +1 stiletto, amulet of health (+2), backpack, bracers of armor (+2), cape of the mountebank, composite longbow [+2 Str], courtier’s outfit, ring of jumping, ring of sustenance, light warhorse (fully equipped), masterwork rapier, masterwork studded leather, noble’s outfit, signet ring, spyglass, waterskin, sunrod (x2), and a small chest containing 150 pp & 1,000 gp. *Ionesco doesn’t use the magical dwarven waraxe, but plans to flaunt it in front of Toryn the first chance he gets.
